Re: Confrimed - Abbey and Holmes going

I'm not too upset by this one with the loan back. It's the Abbey announcement I'm dreading. Suspect he'll only make it at Luton if they get relegated, which is not a given if Forest get deducted points.

Re: Embargos, HMRC Payment defaults, non payment of wages, the usual under Dai Wrongge

Thank you for contacting the Rt. Hon. Stuart Andrew MP about football regulation.   The issues you have raised do, of course, relate to Stuart’s position as Minister for Sport, Gambling and Civil Society and therefore your email has been raised with the Department for Culture, Media and Sport for a...

Re: #SellBeforeWeDai (to someone fit and proper)“ supporters action group

Good timing to launch it, suspect we will get a lot of support from the wider football community.

Re: Generic clubs in financial crisis Thread

PNE, often held up as a model Championship club these days, released their accounts today. £12m net loss and £11m equity contributed by the owner. Perfectly safe for FFP given many costs are excluded and all fine so long as the owner is committed, but still dependent upon the owner who's put in clos...

They have certainly done well out of getting a massive stadium at peppercorn rent.

Re: The Manager Sack Race/Merry-go-Round

I wonder if Troy Deeney's management career is over before it started after his outburst at the weekend. His defence is that he's too emotional, which is laughable. If you can't handle your emotions, don't take a managerial role that requires you to manage them.

Re: Do you agree with todays pitch invasion and match abandonment?

I believe the ex-Scunthorpe owner went down the route of banning everybody who protested against him. I don't think Dai or Pang care enough though.

Re: Confrimed - Abbey and Holmes going

If/when this happens, how do you think it'll be communicated? I'm going for Luton Town statement, player messages on social media and then a 2 sentence statement by Reading FC 48 hours later.

Re: Do you agree with todays pitch invasion and match abandonment?

It was definitely organic, but there was a mood across social media and at the stadium. It was obvious that we only needed a dozen to kick it off and it would grow into something bigger. Difference is, you only needed 5% or 10% of the crowd to participate for the pitch invasion to work, and only on...

Re: #SellBeforeWeDai (to someone fit and proper)“ supporters action group

Depressing if predictable noises coming from the EFL, that they're running out of options. In particular, if they disqualify Dai and he doesn't sell, we're into "uncharted territory" as they can't force him to sell. The CEO also discussed the challenges of never communicating with Dai dire...

Re: Potential New Owners

How much money has the Brentford owner put in? In their build up to promotion, it felt like they brought in big transfer fees to finance the squad every season. They did spend big transfer fees, but that was more than made up by selling at least one player for a big fee each season: (Figures from T...

Oh how I look forward to the day when we can look at our competitors results with the knowledge that our biggest rival is our owner.

But yes, a few results falling kindly for us since the weekend.

Re: Potential New Owners

With you on this one Ian as well. Whilst it is being said that it's hard to sustain success by selling your best players all the time, I'd rather we did that and still have a club than throw all that money up the wall and put the future of the club in jeopardy. At the end of the day, you need to cu...

Re: #SellBeforeWeDai (to someone fit and proper)“ supporters action group

Dont know why, but i am just sensing a thawing, that statement in the sale was ever so slightly more definite and positive. I am feeling a chink of light. I don't trust a word the Club or Pang says. Dai is a mute but I wouldn’t trust him either. I'll only be positive when there is evidence of real ...

Re: Embargos, HMRC Payment defaults, non payment of wages, the usual under Dai Wrongge

Where there is money to be made, there is greed. Sport is even worse as there is also prestige and egos involved in a way you don't see in unglamorous industries like, say, waste management. It creates a natural toxic mix. Successful businessmen get into football and make reckless decisions for the ...

Re: Confrimed - Abbey and Holmes going

Not sure up front cash is always better, it depends upon circumstances. Imagine we'd been in a position to negotiate properly for Olise, you'd happily forego £5m up front for a 25% sell on clause when his next transfer could be for £60m - £80m. Obviously we need cash desperately. But don't be surpri...

Re: Embargos, HMRC Payment defaults, non payment of wages, the usual under Dai Wrongge

Can't the EFL give Dai an ultimation? Sell by the end of the season including show you are actively trying to sell or you'll be disqualified from owning reading No, because the Independent Commission decide sanctions. And even if they do, he can just ignore them. At 10:50 on today's appearance at P...

Stadium. A white elephant or leased to another sporting entity ? Ricoh Arena / Wasps for example Bearwood. Similar story for Maidenhead Golf club. Not sure where that stands at present but I believe the fundamentals amount to a £16m purchase for land that will contain around 1,000 houses and a scho...

Masters telling the parliamentary select committee today that decision on 777 and Everton to be completed in the next few weeks. Given the money loaned, failure to approve is a disaster for Everton which moves them toward the precipice. May help our cause if so. See how urgent the regulator becomes ...
