Re: How Nervous Are We All?

I am not nervous. I was nervous before Walsall, I was nervous before Swansea, but this year it just doesn't seem to be as important to me as it was back then. I was so nervous against Walsall I could barely talk. I'm feeling quite zen about this one. The only other Wembley/Millenium trip I've felt ...

Re: Gospel according to Herr Wagner

Mr Optimist Thought he spoke very well, especially as it is his second language.

Not that remarkable really, like Danny Williams, Wagner's father is American and Wagner is a former American international.

Re: Where Are They Now

Apparently "Robson-Kanu will be remembered by all in the club, an instinctive striker with an eye for goal". Must be a different Robson-Kanu because the one I remember was a skillful winger who failed to live up to his potential because he believed his own hype a bit too much. Yep - talen...

All programmes seem to be a bit shit now. Victims of the immediacy of the net?

Anyway, I'm still gutted that Mick Hayloft never signed my programme.

Re: The Forgotten

Interestingly *, that's not an anagram of "Not Romario".

Anyway, I did one of those Sporcle quizzes where you had to name Reading players from the last 5 years and I genuinely had no recollection of Matt Connolly ever playing for us.

Re: The Forgotten

Big centre back we got from and returned to Telford ? Aaron Brown? If we're going back 30 years, how about Sean Reck? On loan from Oxford in the all conquering 85/86 season and played in 1 game, a 6-0 defeat at Walsall. I thought Sean's appearance was in the 3-0 stuffing at Priestfield (Gillingham)...

Re: The Forgotten

Horsham Royal Burns era striker forced to retire early. Stocky bloke.

Sean Evers? Rumour has it Luton's insurers were just about to pay out on him when we came along with a cheeky £500,000 bid.

Wikipedia reckons he made 18 appearances for us which is 18 more than I remember.

Re: wembley experience

Your crafty edit throws the discussion off a bit ! I have absolutely no recollection of Stephen Kelly . Bizarre. I'll be honest, I only remembered him because the source I looked at for the semi final line ups listed him as S.Kelly. I tend to file the Adkins and Clarke years alongside Porterfield i...

CountryRoyal
Nahki Wells played 85 minutes in Bradford City's 2013 league two playoff final victory against Northampton town.

Pretty sure he also played in the League Cup final against Swansea.

Nameless
Kelly was on the bench for the semi.

Liam Kelly? I really don't think so. Not unless he's shrunk 15cm, lost 10 years in age and changed his name from Stephen.

Re: wembley experience

Al Habsi, McShane and Quinn have all played in an FA Cup final.

Obviously, Obita, Gunter, Williams and McCleary all played in the cup semi.

Gunter has also played in a European Championship semi final.

That's off the top of my head.

Re: Where does Jaap Stand ?

Where Stam stands apart from the others is that he has taken a disorganised rabble of a team, implemented a completely new style of play and got us to within 1 game of the Premiership in 1 season. It took McGhee and Coppell 3 years, Pardew 2 years from a level below and our spending power was signif...

Re: Huddersfield fan on train from Maidenhead

Ive sat in the home end at the John Smith's in a Reading top for a Huddersfield - Reading game and not had any trouble (Town used to flog tickets for their less attractive home games for a fiver on Groupon). A bit of banter, which was to a be expected but they're generally a decent bunch as long as ...

I just think if we were prepared to go for a loan deal for Gyan then Jelavic is a more reasonable target for a loan deal if we don't up.

Plays in China for a team who have just been relegated and are owned by a brother and sister who have just bought a controlling share in a football club in England.

Re: A pundit just backed us!

Err, Huddersfield were Chris Iwulemo's tip for relegation this season.

I quite like Iwulemo, even if he did knock us out if the cup with an outrageously offside goal about 15 years ago. Who can forget his miss against England that made Swift's chance look difficult.
