Re: MATCHWATCH : Sheffield Wednesday (a) sponsored by Jack Witham

No Oh, ok. Right foot bias. I assumed he was right footed and just noticed the weaker second one was from his left foot. Don’t think I’ve ever seen him use his right foot. He’s basically the Reading Robben. But better. To be fair to Ian, its only taken Olise's 2,700 minutes over 43 appearances to c...

Re: Opposition fans back from the game

You can’t just dismiss a stat because you don’t like what it’s saying, it’s been proven to be fairly accurate in reflecting how the team is doing in terms of chances. As long as you understand what it shows and it’s limitations then you can use that stat the way it’s supposed to be used. You obviou...

Re: Opposition fans back from the game

Seems odd the xg doesn't use the striker's quality, and form. I remember a LONG sequence where Noel Hunt and Shane Long were partners up-front and one or both of them scored virtually every game... or Blackman's purple patch... and some "striker" eg Baldock are not prolific, but others (l...

Re: Opposition fans back from the game

Some good discourse here around the merits of xG as a statistic. Good to see most are correctly understanding its limited explanatory power, and key caveats (gamestate and variance). At no point has anyone (competent) claimed it's the be all and end all. A couple of applied points so humour me here,...

Re: BF I follow Barnsley

I said defenders in more direct sides. Generally whenever I've looked over the years what I described is what I saw. That's why I said it. Look at our season so far stats. Cabral is second bottom. Baldock bottom. Swift is towards the bottom, but on 77%, how much higher must his PA have been against...

Re: BF I follow Barnsley

I don't think I'd be looking to Citeh for stats comparisons to us. Weak response. I actually think its a perfect example - if the best-in-the-world equivalent of Swifts role also had a low % completion (relative to his teammates) despite putting on a MOTM performance, why should we expect Swi...

Re: BF I follow Barnsley

Out of interest, if you had to predict which player/position/role would come out 'worst' for all of those stats who would you pick? I would probably go for the guy who is tasked with being a creative playmaker in an advanced, central position. There is more space out wide for Olise/Ovie and Joao is...

Unless we're selling Rafael and fancy another Virginiaesque debacle. On that note Everton have just gibven Virginia a new long term contract            Don't get this style comment regarding Virginia (seen it on twitter as well). Re: BF I follow Barnsley

And there was a lot of sloppy control. Swift had the lowest pass accuracy of any of our starters. The most unsuccessful touches The joint second most dispossessed Just to insert an element of objectivity. His performances have been distinctly lacklustre since the restart having been one of our best...

Re: BF I follow Barnsley

Surprised by the Swift scores - he certainly wasn't at his best but he had a big impact on key moments: - wrongly called offside denying a 1:1 - broke ahead of a Joao again and just gets beaten to the ball by a GK - Joao pulled back and defender sent off after another excellent long ball from... Re: Dave's i Newspaper award 20/21

One thing I have noticed when I have seen other teams message boards is that the layout of their message boards looks terrible compared to this fine portal. But its an oxf*rd nightmare to scrape (RIP hopes of HNA? post match thread sentiment analysis*), and pretty woeful on mobile *- it would have ...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Barnsley (h) sponsored by a trip down t'pit

I think this will be a trickier game than perhaps many expect. I don't buy them as relegation candidates like in previous seasons - it's well established they have the youngest squad in the league (23.2 for their game last weekend - a full year younger than 2nd youngest) and play a pressing style t...

Re: Goal of the Season 2020-2021

Can’t agree with Snowers about the Forest goal. It was a thing of beauty to be celebrating an equaliser within a matter of seconds of Forest thinking they had sneaked the win. I will always remember the equaliser as jnr smashed into me in celebration knocking my glasses flying. Took five minutes to...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Luton Town (h) sponsored by Dean Morgan

Has Nevers been binned or injured? Nevers is an odd one. I have been really impressed with him in the U23 games I have seen. Thought he was a hot prospect. I suppose he could be injured, but otherwise I have no idea what he has done to be so out of favour. Could it be a pecking order thing? With Pu...

RoyalBlue Effing iFollow not working in the US. Says match is included ('Next available match Reading v Luton Town You already have access to this match') but is only offering audio.

Was looking forward to being really smug about it working for me, but alas also Radio commentary/audio only in Canada
