Re: STAR AGM Thu 2 Sep

The AGM took place by Zoom last Thursday with 35 members in virtual attendance. It was fairly low-key as you might imagine with not much to report on from last season.

Re: Coming to the Huddersfield match on Saturday?

FWIW this from Stonegate pubs: I am emailing to see if you have a venue arranged with any of the local bars for your supporters to go to before the game this weekend and away at Fulham on the 18th? At Stonegate pubs we have hundreds of venues all over the country. In Huddersfield, we have set up The...

STAR AGM Thu 2 Sep

The STAR Annual General Meeting will be held on Thursday 2 September at 8pm. It will again be held by Zoom due to the present circumstances. It's likely to last half an hour and we'd be grateful if members could spare the time to attend. To attend, please request a link to the Zoom call by email fro...

Re: No Programmes this season

I would guess with size of programmes these days, the cost of producing them probably far outweighs any money they make from them. The money saving from producing them online probably doesn't save a massive amount though overall. Yes you save on printing costs, but you also have to give them away f...

Re: Rival Watch

You are making that up. If you read the official EFL statement regarding the Derby Chorley game which was issued on 20 July in the notes it categorically gives the definition of a player of professional standing to be when they have played one game. It also says if a player goes out on loan they st...

Re: Rival Watch

Agree, that does seem pretty crazy definition to me. Should probably be "more than 60 minutes" or something. Have heard direct from EFL that the definition is FIVE matches (maybe starts, not sure) not one, as mistakenly reported on BBC and elsewhere. You are making that up. If you read th...

Re: Rival Watch

Would suggest the definition of a professional standing is a little absurd, 1 game (and does a 2 minute sub app. equate to 1 game?) hardly makes a player to most people. At least the cup games should be excluded as so many teams use them as a testing ground these days. Agree, that does seem pretty ...

Re: Stoke Away

Stoke are not letting fans take bags into the ground and aren't offering anywhere to store them - so travel light if you're not going by coach (where your flask of coffee is always welcome ... ) See below: Bags are not permitted in the Stadium and there are no bag storage facilities available...

Re: Royals on the Box/Internet Thread

Dumb question of the season award, but I take it that's it for iFollow Saturday games then ? Reckon so. It's called respecting the 3pm Saturday black-out on TV coverage in order to support live attendances throughout the pyramid. There will be work done (analysis!) over the next year or two to see ...

Promising - the Fan Led Review

The interim report from the Govt’s Fan Led Review was published late last week and it looks very promising. This is a very significant and positive moment for fans’ involvement in the governance of football and we should feel much encouraged. Doubtless there will be some pushback from the football a...

Why join STAR for 2021-22

Football is still in the age of uncertainty but we sincerely hope we’ll all be back in the Madstad (SCL Stadium) very soon and for the very special 2021-22 season – celebrating our 150th anniversary. STAR is back too, of course. After a year of not much more than Zoom meetings (Fans Forum and Hall o...

Green Great - is there a trophy for this?

No, but you'll be delighted to know we did get one for coming top in the FSA's version of this in 2019.

Re: Sustain the Game!

The campaign looks for urgent action from the authorities to protect the very existence of clubs in this dangerous time. Which authorities, and what action is required? Looks very broad in scope and very general at the moment. A bit "Down with this sort of thing", dare I say it. Fine if i...

Re: Hall of Fame Sun 21 March 7.30pm

Appreciate the compliments, thanks. By going virtual we reached a lot more people than could have attended at the Madstad and a rough reckoning suggests at least 500 saw all / nearly all the show. But it's not the same as the live event where you can mingle with the actual legends. One solution may ...

Re: Royals on the Box/Internet Thread

I've got £100k in my head for some reason, but no idea why or if it's accurate. Under the current deal, which I think runs to the end of next season, I believe the fees for live games for Division 2/Championship clubs are, for the home club, £100,000 per game (unless it’s played on Sunday (£120,000...

Hall of Fame Sun 21 March 7.30pm

It's the 2020 show at last. STAR's Reading FC Hall of Fame 2020 was postponed almost a year ago due to the pandemic and there hasn't been a suitable opportunity to do it as a live event at the Madstad since. So, instead, it's going to be an online event that all supporters can reach, for free, via R...
