Re: Weekend Football

Of the 3 promoted sides, I think Luton have the best chance. Before the season, I said Burnley but I guess if you're a diet Man City that doesn't work against technically superior teams. Luton by contrast have physicality, workrate and have the wide quality to put consistently good balls into the ar...

Re: I've lost count - Embargos, HMRC Payent defaults, non payment of wages, the usual under Dai Wrongge

It is a murky world; generally the authorities are unwilling to block wealth investing in our game and need a really strong reason not to.

Just look at the mental gymnastics undertaken to say that Newcastle aren't owned by the Saudi state.

Re: Ex Players

We are very good with letting some obvious talent either go, let contracts be run down, or turn excellent quality players into absolute rubbish. Our Academy could be the driving force that allows our club to compete above its weight. Instead we're seeing potential realised elsewhere with minimal fi...

If he really cared about reputation and saving his face he wouldn't go around destroying football clubs.

Re: Worst case scenario

AFC Wimbledon have the record for fastest promotion from the bottom to L2 in 9 years. So 8 should be our target, which would mean 2032 if we start next year. Who would be involved? Surely we could pull McDermott's emotional heartstrings? Perhaps Murty as manager; I know it didn't work out at Ranger...

Re: Ex Players

Ascotexgunner Osho....one that got away? Been impressive for Luton so far.

If he'd stayed, we'd have probably ruined him.

Re: Selles out

They certainly could be. But loads of them are ooc at the end of the season If Dai's still here next season then we'll have an even worse squad, and go down again. He's given up. In all honesty though, I think if we aren't sold before next season, then the club will be gone. If Dai hasn’t sold by J...

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

Not that I'm against blame being wrongly apportioned to the EFL. The game needs better regulation, and if all they can argue is "No, we didn't have the power to stop this shit show" then it makes the point very well.

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

The problem is the EFL don't have the power to force the owner out. We need an independent regulator with real power. As for approving the deal, their checks focus on proof of funding, criminal convictions, money laundering, previous directorships etc., but they can't predict the future. Their bid f...

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

Heard a few noises on Twitter too that this is the only bid remaining. Others have been put off. If this falls through, presumably all parties are so exasperated with Dai's behaviour that they take a break and potentially revisit a lower bid after everythings gets worse (which it definitely will).

Re: The Manager Sack Race/Merry-go-Round

There seems to be plenty of candidates to "do a Reading" at the moment. Sheffield Wednesday most obvious, but QPR in a bad way too. Stoke hovering above the drop zone, Norwich in a malaise and Sheffield United too. They're all clubs with relatively recent PL ambitions who just seem to be ...

Presume this is all just a bit of willy waving on both sides and there is still a reasonable chance of the deal happening.

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

It achieves nothing. We should take a leaf out of Southend's book and protest outside his mansion, or perhaps that exclusive Mayfair club he likes to be seen at.

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

Is the outstanding EFL charge against Dai a concern? Conventional wisdom is all they can do is impose a fine which they then cannot enforce. But could they say prove that you have the funding to see out the season or face expulsion? That is what ultimately did for Bury. Then their fans split between...

Re: Selles out

I'm still Selles Out, but yesterday's showing made me question how good this squad really is and whether another manager could do loads better. I think survival would be the ambition for anyone. We have 3 players who would genuinely feature in most L1 teams: Smith, Wing and Abbey. We then Knibbs, A...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Carlisle United (h)

On this specific model, I'd have to go back to this stage in previous seasons to give any specific figures. On using xG, however, the Experimental 361 xG league tables for 46-game seasons (ie. Championship, League One and League Two) has shown an average error of 9.5 points since 2019-20 (2020-21 f...

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

Eddie Wallbank: I’m hearing that a deal was close to being finalised with Genevra associates, with Dai and Dai’s sister initially giving it the green light. Unfortunately, Dai tried to change a few parts of the deal, which didn’t go down too well at Genevra, stalling progress. #ReadingFC Frustrating...

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

I have said it before and I honestly believe this is just a game to Dai now. MS was downbeat about the takeover yesterday and it might also account for the lacklustre performance from the team. I think the protests etc. have hurt Dai’s pride/ego and he’ll let the club fold once he’s done with playi...
