Re: Rival Watch

Exeter beat Carlisle and Cheltenham beat Pompey at home.

As many said at the time, that was a good point earned.

Re: I've lost count - Embargos, HMRC Payent defaults, non payment of wages, the usual under Dai Wrongge

It might be that we got rid of the two most underperforming members of the coaching team. Bowen may have been told that we needed to cut costs and between him and Selles, they moved on the worst ones. That's what a well-run club would do though. EN was head of player development rather than a coach...

Re: I've lost count - Embargos, HMRC Payent defaults, non payment of wages, the usual under Dai Wrongge

James Earnshaw saying the club has insisted it wants to retain category 1 academy when asked. Scarcely seems believability. And agree that news of cuts would have made sense in June after relegation and you could argue it's overdue, but it's so much more disruptive mid season. Amazing how so many pe...

Re: I've lost count - Embargos, HMRC Payent defaults, non payment of wages, the usual under Dai Wrongge

Andrew Sparkes and Eddie Niedzwiecki have been let go. 3 things: 1. They are important staff members so the club must really be desperate. 2. Indicates that no takeover is close. 3. May well effect performances on the pitch. Who is assisting Selles now? How long until the lights are turned off? You...

Re: TAKEOVER *NOT* CONFIMRED

Earnshaw responding to questions on Twitter that there are still 3 or 4 parties interested, but no real progress and we're basically back to where we were in early November. So don't expect anything imminent, but don't give up hope that we're stuck with him. Originally we wanted him gone by January ...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Exeter City (h)

I expect another ban and a fine. Do the FA even have the jurisdiction to apply a points deduction? I thought only the EFL could. If it was a player it would be a points deduction, mistake or not. With a manager though, no idea. Pretty sure it would be an EFL charge for fielding an ineligible player...

Re: Rival Watch

A batch of signings in January rarely works. 18/19 for us is the only success I remember, and even then they only hit their stride in Feb/March which is understandable. Plus I doubt Carlisle are getting in Emi Martinez.

His interview "gets it" to be honest. If they perform well on the pitch, which is the only thing they can control, it makes the club more saleable and hopefully something happens off the pitch that allows us to kick on next season. Any player who sticks with us this season and then helps u...

Re: Generic clubs in financial crisis Thread

Forest submitted their accounts on 31st Dec and there seems to be a lot of chat that they are about to run into FFP problems An article by the Athletic explains it well. They were basically banking on the sale of Brennan Johnson at the end of the season. Everyone knew this so lowballed them offers ...

Re: Selles In

We've not been playing well, but we've not been getting dominated because of the division we're in. I knew L1 would be lower quality than the Championship, but I underestimated the extent of the gap. Teams aren't capable of dominating us so we put in uninspiring performances which are enough to get ...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Exeter City (h)

I feel like this summer we managed to trick some quality L1 players into coming here. Bowen's rebuild, our shiny training ground, hopes of promotion. All proven to be misplaced hope. If we have to replace players like Azeez and Abbey, don't expect players such as Wing, Smith and Knibbs to be queuein...

Re: Summer 2023 Transfer Speculation

Don't think there has been any speculation really, other than reporting a rumour for Thomas - which a lot of people have said they don't see how it could happen. The only possible thing is someone to replace Ballard, but with the comments from RS and MB, that looks also very unlikely. I'm not expec...

Re: RUMOUR - Jensen Weir

Been recalled by Brighton who will decide if to send him out on loan again. Wonder if we may look at him again? Guess he may even play against us in the Trophy next week. What's his position? We don't need another attacking midfielder to compete with Knibbs, Elliott and Vickers. We need genuine wid...

Re: Rival Watch

I think Cheltenham will survive. One team currently between 19th and 13th will go down having looked fairly safe. I agree - if I were a betting man and assuming we get no more points deductions - massive IF under current ownership, then I would put money on both us and Cheltenham getting out of tro...

TalkSPORT this evening - 5.41 - brilliant passionate speech from Hugh Woozencroft as to why Reading 106 are the best Championship team ever regardless of what Leicester achieve. Nice to hear a presenter / pundit talking so knowledgeably for once. If Leicester beat it this season, it may well coinci...

Re: Charlie Savage to Derby

Derby is a sideways move at best anyway. If we can keep everyone and maybe replace Ballard then I'll be happy with this window. Get to the summer in this league hopefully and get a new owner in. Would be happy to let Harlee Dean go, plenty of cover at CB. And if we could somehow bring in another CM...

Re: Charlie Savage to Derby

We haven't seen the best of him yet, he's on a 4 year deal. Silly money or reject all offers. The sort of player who with long term planning and stability could help us up the leagues. If we don't have the ownership situation resolved in the summer perhaps sell then. Also, at Derby being a sid...
