Re: MATCHWATCH : Derby County (h)

The official site appears to have gone back in time, and thinks the Derby game is postponed, and our next game is v Eastleigh. https://www.readingfc.co.uk/match/first-team/2023-24/g2371283 https://www.readingfc.co.uk/matches/ (this will no doubt have been fixed by the time anyone sees this) It's ha...

Re: Embargos, HMRC Payment defaults, non payment of wages, the usual under Dai Wrongge

The person who told him how to run a football club doesn't make any money from academy players, only by inflated transfer prices for his clients.

Re: Embargos, HMRC Payment defaults, non payment of wages, the usual under Dai Wrongge

Didn't each incoming player's wages have to be validated by the league as being within the set parameters? So it's unlikely it's that racking up the debts. Realtivley small costs (like the catering at Bearwood, policing, team coach travel etc.) become big debts if you don't pay them for six months. ...

Re: Selles In

If Selles can keep us in League 1 this season, he will surely be seen as a miracle worker. By the day it gets more and more difficult.

If he can do it, he'll be a legend.

Re: Embargos, HMRC Payment defaults, non payment of wages, the usual under Dai Wrongge

I just read the Guardian article. Made my blood run cold. If Dai had sold a few months ago, the squad, the academy and the strong possibility of League 1 survival would have made it a club with a future. Now they'd be buying a League 2 club, a depleted academy stripped of Cat 1, all or most of it's ...

Re: Embargos, HMRC Payment defaults, non payment of wages, the usual under Dai Wrongge

I thought the caterers left because they hadn't been paid since the start of the season rather than the club deciding to stop using them. If any food provided was not prepared and served by trained staff, then I would have thought we'd been in pretty serious food hygiene law related trouble. Surely ...

Re: Confrimed - Abbey and Holmes going

I'd rather be a average Championship team with a high proportion of local lads and academy graduates than a Premier League outfit full of mercenaries with no attatchment to the club or the fans. So losing the likes of Holmes, Abbey hurts me more than someone like Savage. Don't forget, when playing i...

Re: #SellBeforeWeDai (to someone fit and proper)“ supporters action group

As recently as this week the EFL have recognised Reading's transparency about the finances. That suggests to me the club have been meeting their reporting obligations. If, in year two of the three year period over which losses can be spread, the reporting suggests the club will struggle to reign in ...

Abbey was rumoured to be to Forest, to then be loaned out to Olympiacos. May be impacted by the current situation at Nottingham though.

Re: Confrimed - Abbey and Holmes going

Still seems bizarre that a player who has struggled to get into a League 1 team this year is heading to the Premier League (if only for a few months). What are the Luton fans saying? Luton will be aware his struggle to get a start is more to do with the manager than the player. Our record with him ...

Re: ifollow

I'm really torn. It's a lot of money to sit and watch a match on the computer. But I have enough residual loyalty and enthusiasm that I'm sure, come the few hours before kick off, I'll be making excuses about not being able to join the family, forking out a tenner and settling down to shout at no on...

Re: Rumour - Josh Laurent

Whilst big money signings are more "whelming," we've only had very modest success. If we think back to Kitson, Dolye, Hunt (Stephen and Noel), Long, Kebe: when Reading get the recruitment right, we get inexpensive players that really grow here. If it doesn't work out, not too much gambles ...

Re: BFT well I don’t know what to call it without resorting to a lot of naughty words

Re the criticism of our players for the third goal. Wasn’t it clear that the reason they were jogging back rather than sprinting that they were tracking the possibility of runners coming in behind them to receive a ball cut back from the touchline. It was a percentage decision taken on the premise ...
