The standard of women's play is ...

... what, compared to men? With the Women's World Cup coming what do you reckon is the highest level of men's football that the England World Cup women's team would beat in a one-off match? 1. Reading FC 2. Oxford United 3. RFC Academy 4. Reading Town 5. West Reading 6. Reading School 1st XI Adult f...

Re: Blatter under investigation

Fifa vice-president Jack Warner has resigned, world football's governing body has confirmed. "As a consequence of Mr Warner's resignation, all ethics committee procedures against him have been closed and the presumption of innocence is maintained," said a Fifa statement. I literally laugh...

Daley Thompson v REal Sociedad c1995 IIRC. Whatever - he came on for the last 10 mins or so and had a good shot. Did see footage of him scoring a cracking goal at Wembley in some celeb type affair.

Re: "be good to see a Welsh team in the Premiership"

If we go up we'd be the only team from WESSEX in the Premier League and we'd be the nearest PL team for everybody from Cornwall Devon Dorset Somerset, Hants, Wilts, Oxon (parts), Bucks (parts), Surrey (parts) - surely in economic, cultural and population terms a more impressive cathcment than Wales?...

Re: Just a thought?

Watching the warm ups at games, I cant help but notice how amazing Sal Bibo is. He can cross, shoot, volley, pass and has good reactions. Surely we should give him a contract as a player and some sprint training? He can replace the outgoing Shane Long. Shame he wasn't a good goalie when we needed h...

Re: Media buildup to Playoff final - post links

Interesting that Brendan Rogers sees Swansea as the underdogs He's always said that. He would LOVE to be the underdog as he sees it as easier without the pressure of being favourites, but no matter how many times he says it, it don't make it so. What's the bookies view? Whatever, that would be more...

Re: Reading emblem

Here we are. unbadge1.jpg unbadge 2.jpg There seemed to be some madness about changing the club name to Reading Royals involved, together with a fixation about lions that have nothing to with royals. Is anyone outside Reading even aware of the Forbury Lion? I have no idea how advanced this work ever...

Z175 Would be great if someone found the designs!

To be fair I like the one they chose though. And its certainly had a lot of "new" history now

I saw some shocking work in progress in the mid/late 1990s. I'll see if I can 'em out.

Re: Robin at no. 2!

I am actually a bit offended. Robin was a lunatic and died much too young...but mainly a fun loving lunatic who wasn't out to hurt/kill people like some in his general area of that list. I mean the impersonating a cop to take other people's drugs ain't cool but I am assuming he didn't pistol whip o...

Re: Good omens

All our (3) Wembley appearances have been against clubs that normally wear white shirts and both so far have involved one team scoring four goals. I have no idea what this means but I'd feel more comfortable if we wore the black and red strip than the hoops, much as it pains the traditionalist in me...

Re: Flags @ Wembley

prostak I think we need to utilize the crest of Berkshire. Something that bellows 'I'm proud of my county, and you?' Chunky cotton, rather than cheap synthetics, would also raise us a notch or two above the rest.

WE ARE BERKS

That should do it.

Re: Sending Off

didn't Vinnie Jones get sent off for fir a challenge at the start of the game. Game kicked off, ball bassed back and Jones flew in two footed and was sent off? Maybe. He was also reported as having 'done' Kinkladze in the tunnel as the teams were coming out for a vital relegation 6 pointer

I think Hartlepool was the voucher game for Arsenal. Might be mistaken. I too was there somewhere as a spotty oik/yoof  Gawd I feel old looking at those pics  It was Barrow. Same trick, raised the crowd to 11,000. Some nobber was on recently saying it was his first game and who scored? I...
