Re: Hoops

Popular? Does that means sells well? With the aid of a £20 voucher, of course?

What about those of us who don't buy shirts but still have to watch our heroes play in a naff representation of our true kit? Don't we count?

RFC writes ...

Don't be frickin daft.

Re: Half Time "entertainment"

I did lobby the club in pretty strong terms on that questionniare they sent out. I think they think HT entertainment is purely for kids and anyone with a mental age of over 12 and £10 in their purse ought to be down in the concourse spending it. By way of evidence - My little one once asked, as the ...

Re: Hoops

Sunderland and QPR both no back panel again. There is NO REASON at all why we shouldn't have hoops all the way around. It's the clubs choice and for some reason they choose to ruin the symmetry of the shirt. . Does Puma make Sunderland and QPR's shirts? Do you think Puma or Reading FC design the sh...

Re: Half Time "entertainment"

HAHA yeh Adam Federici, what a knob!!! They should scrap all the current and past ideas and do something different. Fans crossbar challenge from the edge of the box; as most fans probably can't kick a ball!!! Spot on - like they had at Coventry. And spend more time on HT scores and less on messages...

Re: Thames Valley Royals

Sheff Weds are older than us.
Stoke claim they are older but have not been in continuous existence.
Kilmarnock are older (SPL).

Re: Thames Valley Royals

I think Maxwell forced the sale of an Oxford player (Hebberd?) to Derby - which he also owned - and this caused the resignation of manager Lawrenson who went on to join the BBC. It also caused the FL to put in rules about not having a controlling interest in more than one club. Maxwell at one point...

Re: Thames Valley Royals

Surely the point in merging the two was to get both sets of fans. Other wise what was the point, oxford weren't getting the crowds, i don't see how eliminating the "enemy" i.e. RFC, would boost oxfords crowds there would be next to no Reading fans going to watch oxford. That's what Maxwel...

Re: Thames Valley Royals

I read somewhere that within a day or two the proposed name was changed to Thames Valley United. That gives you a clue what would have happened. Essentially it would have been an Oxford take-over of Reading. Maxwell would have sold Dixon, Elm Park and used the money to bolster OUFC. The stadium at D...

Re: Change to alcohol laws?

I don't like drinking quickly, although it's the best way with the piss they serve at the Mad stad. I'd like to be able to turn up, get a pint and go out and watch the build up to and start of the game, rather than having to hang around in a crowded concourse. I'd then like to be able to grab anoth...

A bold start there, you son of Cleese.

SJM's still got the jump on Frank Waller as far I'm concerned. To put it mildly.

Svlad Cjelli
brendywendy that said- i do wonder how much this redesign cost

Probably bugger all - they're putting in a new ticketing system so need to reissue the cards, so why not put a new design on them?

What's new about the new system? I thought the old one was working fine.

Jerry St Clair This would never have happened on Annie Bassett's watch.

Too right, everyone was barred apart from the corporates and Steve Davis.

Re: 2011/12 Fixtures in Outlook

Fixtures in Reading Chronicle - what a pathetic mess of a double page spread

No day of the week / no KO times / no indication of FA Cup dates / dates hard to read / completely thoughtless and useless.

Re: Frank Lampard

Another one to add to the 'great' names who did nowt for us like Allan Harris, Billy Bonds, Peter Bonetti, Packie Bonner - all on the staff at some time IIRC Bit harsh on Billy Bonds. I seem to remember we improved defensively when he came to the club and he had a spell as caretaker manager. Sorry ...

Re: The standard of women's play is ...

I'd have to question RFC Academy beating Reading Town - boys against men, that one. Fair enough - I've never seen either. I just assumed a well-drilled unit of full-time soccer scholars at a serious Lge club would beat lowly non-leaguers. I do watch a bit of Ryman Lge South and that seems pretty ba...
