I was busy reading opened mouth how the club had been sold to a consortium for a good 2 minutes before the penny dropped. I thought it was April 1st :?

Nah, his ill thought-out and misjudged remarks in the EP definitely look like those of a cornered man caught bang to rights. I can't disagree with that. their subsequent decision to grant exclusive rights to a radio station (partly owned by the Chairman) with an extremely poor area of coverage in a contest that many suspect took place on a far from level playing field! 107 deny they have an exclusive agreement, although it will work out that way if...

As someone else has intimated it is unheard of for the club to negotiate in public in all other matters, so why on earth are they doing so now? Is this really the olive branch that it appears or just a poor disguised attempt at spinning their way out of a PR nightmare of their own making? Presumably...

JM sounds like a man desperately trying to defend the indefensible. He also sounds uncommonly rattled. And are we to surmise from all this that Reading 107 (or whatever the hell they call themselves) have bid £100,000 for these rights because I don't remember reading anywhere that they have coughed ...

From what I can gather 70K is the going rate for the product in question, namely local radio broadcasting rights for Premiership football. I'm told from a source fairly close to the heart of all this hullabaloo that even the station in Manchester with the rights to broadcast their games pay only abo...

Just been rereading the official sites report about 107 winning the commentary rights: Reading FC Chief Executive Nigel Howe said, "With promotion to the Premiership, the media rights of Reading Football Club have increased in value considerably. "We are delighted that Reading 107 have be...

I'm normally passionately defensive about the decisions the football club make. After all, they have to make hay whilst the sun shines. But this is a shocking and short-sighted decision that does them no favours whatsoever other than in strictly financial terms. And as most local radio stations are ...
