Re: So cheats do prosper.....

It's worth noting that Spain had the most shots in the tournament. Hardly the work of a boring team.

Re: So cheats do prosper.....

A great team would have won at least one of their games in this tournament by more than 1 goal that was scored in the latter stages of the game. This is grade A rubbish. It doesn't matter how many goals you win by, because you don't win by the volume of goals, you just need to score one more than y...

Re: Holland v Spain - World Cup Final

Webb is not a poor ref imo. I was surprised he got the CL final because by his standards he was poor last season missing some blatent reds in the CC final and FA Cup semi finals. However he and his assistants deserved to be appointed as the officials for the final as they were the best officials thr...

Re: Farnborough FC v Reading FC - Sat 10th July

Agree with the general thoughts on Henry, and to be honest I personally hold Scott Davies, Robson-Kanu, and Antonio with more regard. I, for one, can't understand why Davies' opportunities with the first team have been so limited because the boy is class. Watching him ping a ball back and forth wit...

Re: EngLOLand - The Backlash!

I read an interview with Capello a couple of years ago where he said that he tries to incorporate a countries culture in the way his teams play which flies in the face of his critics assertion that he tried to get England to play in an Italian way. 442 is not a Fabio Capello invention we played it a...

Re: Holland v Spain - World Cup Final

Not wanted..... I thought Webb had a good game by not ending the match 7 vs 9! Yes Robben stayed on his feet, but had he gone down (like he's done his entire career!), Puyol would have walked. And I don't think Robben did get a shot in btw Iniesta, booked for taking his shirt off, but should have b...

Re: Holland v Spain - World Cup Final

9 yellows for Dutch and 5 for Spain Really? I just looked and it seemed 7-5 (plus the 2nd yellow/red). Hey ho. My point was more that the Spanish weren't wholly innocent, and should have ended up with 9 men themselves. Mind you, when the Dutch fouled, they REALLY fouled! Puyol could have been sent ...

Re: Holland v Spain - World Cup Final

Football is the winner despite what the kick and rush merchants who deride Spain as boring would have people believe. The Dutch were a complete disgrace in the first half and if they had won this tournament it would have been a bad victory for the game. Webb was pretty poor imo, Given that one of his...

Re: EngLOLand - The Backlash!

The criticism of Capello has become absurd now imo. Particularly people telling him to look at Spain and learn from the way they play. The man won la liga twice; I think he knows more about their set up than his critics.

Re: Cisse Departs to Bristol City

Steve Coppell's first signing for Reading Ivar Ingimarsson £175,000 Brendan Rodgers first signing for Reading Matt Mills £2,000,000. In answer to your question no I've never been a brilliant at maths. However, even I know that Brendan Rodgers spent more money in a matter of days when he first arrive...

Re: Cisse Departs to Bristol City

I think you'll find Kitson and Doyle had a fairly sizeable influence on us going up...Ingimarsson, Hunt and Sonko have hardly dazzled in the last 3 years have they? I guess we'll see how Coppell does at Bristol City this season where he doesn't inherit a playoff team with a large budget and state o...

Winvey Robson-Kanu "goal" definitley crossed the line in the first half!!

Tbf the officials were probably just shocked at Robson-Kanu shooting.

Could be more trouble soon for the FA. Facebook is in the running to take over the England team sponsorship deal from Nationwide.

Re: Germany v Spain [Official Thread]

Playing against the best counter attacking side in the competition means that piling people forward is not really the best idea. Spain haven't played as well as they did in the Euros because they haven't been allowed to. From the Switzerland to the semi-final teams have constantly defended against t...

Re: Germany v Spain [Official Thread]

Spain just don't ever do anything. They were so dull. Germany couldn't get hold of the ball though, so it was effective. Definitely missed Muller. I thought Podolski was fairly poor too. Shame. Bloody hell Ian! It was a joy to watch, their passing was superb while patient as well. No wonder your fo...

Re: ARGENTINA / GERMANY

sandman The only problem I can see with Germany is that their game is based so much on counter attack that if they play Spain they might struggle to get the ball to counter attack.

Scrap that the way Spain are playing the Germans will be able to counter attack all night long.

Re: SPAIN / PARAGAY

Don't know what is wrong with Spain. Pique looks like he's playing for the Dog and Duck, Casillas hasn't looked the same since his f*** up against Getafe in La Liga and I've never seen Xavi and Iniesta lose the ball so much.
