Re: ARGENTINA / GERMANY

The only problem I can see with Germany is that their game is based so much on counter attack that if they play Spain they might struggle to get the ball to counter attack.

Re: ARGENTINA / GERMANY

Always fancied Germany to win. Maradona as entertaining as he is isn't tactically aware enough to change it when things aren't going his way.

Re: Fabio Capello still England manager

The list is an idea dreamt up by the anti Beckham brigade as a reason to explain why he has so many caps. It's basic concept is that the fa gives the manager a list of commercially viable players that he must choose from in order to appease sponsors. It's a stupid idea that doesn't explain why McCla...

Very poor from Argentina and from the BBC commentator who thought that Oscar winning actress Charlize Theron was a wag.

Re: I'm so over the World Cup.

Exactly it's the business end of the tournament now. For some reason I'm very anti-Brazil now. When I was younger I loved them, now they're overhyped and full of idiots like Robinho. Also not enamoured with Holland and Paraguay are meh. Big fans of the other teams still in it though. Footballers in...

Re: EngLOLand - The Backlash!

Clarence Seedorf was in the BBC studio for the Italy versus Paraguay match and he was making a point about the positive impact an Italian substitute had made on the game. He was referring to Antonio Di Natale, winner of more than 30 caps for the Azzurri and the leading goalscorer in Serie A in the ...

Re: Spain / Portugal

I found this match very dull and not very exciting. Referee was poor, the diving was poor, chances few and far between, and it was generally just poor. Chile were better than both these teams. Portugal were just trying to spoil the game and Spain were finding it difficult to break them down but the...

Re: EngLOLand - The Backlash!

I would have thought it must be frustrating when due to language barriers, the manager cannot even express himself properly to the players, despite his track record, which incidentally is not in England with English players. Roy Hodgson's record isn't in England with English players either but peop...

Re: england - the next generation

But Hodgson has spent most of his managerial career abroad the question we should ask is why did he have to do that? Why are the coaches we have brought through our system are so poor?

Re: EngLOLand - The Backlash!

Darren Bent is not and never has been an international player he's looked lost every time he's been given a chance. Again I will say Capello tried different formations early on and quickly realised they didn't work. The England players will never be able to play for their country the way they do for...

To think that the deluded fool actually thinks he can win the nobel peace prize because he's brought the World Cup to Africa is astounding.

Re: EngLOLand - The Backlash!

I'd agree that our wingers aren't in the best of form but then Capello needs to look at a different system if that is the case. Could a midfield diamond with Gerrard the furthest forward been an improvement? It's a simple change but I think it would have better suited the players Capello chose to p...

Re: EngLOLand - The Backlash!

The manager isn't the issue. It is the issue though. Who in their right mind sets up an England team with 4-4-2 and plays Gerrard (arguably our best midfielder) wide left and another central midfielder in Milner wide right. That team had not width what so ever and the only way that would change wou...

Re: EngLOLand - The Backlash!

I have been saying the same thing myself the players aren't good enough and until there is a review of the way we develop players from an early age we will fail for another decade and beyond.
