Re: Sam Baldock

The issue for these people is that he's not got a sexy foreign name or profile. If his name was Baldockinho and he was coming over from the Ukranian Second Division they'd probably be much more excited. But because he's experienced and English it's 'underwhelming'. Fortunately we don't let these pe...

Re: Sam Baldock

His stats do not lie. He scored 18 goals in 81 games for Brighton. Nothing to do with his name, what a ridiculous comment. Like I said he works hard and will get the odd goal here and there but he's not a 15-20 goal a season striker we need. For the fee we are paying Brighton we could have got a ve...

Re: Sam Baldock

Baldock's stats at this level speak for itself. He'd be a decent signing. Some of our fans are clearly living in cloud cuckoo land if they think we can sign better after the miserable season we had last season. We are not even close to being as a attractive draw as we were 12 months ago! 18 goals i...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Croatia (n) sponsored by two big badges

Southgates niceness was his downfall last night. Didn't utilise his squad and subs properly. I think our lack of midfield options was probably more the cause of our downfall to be honest. I don't agree with a few of the selections or substitutions, but I'm not sure why you'd suggest it was down to ...

Re: England’s World Cup Finals 2018

You'd want England to lose for £50? Even if I stood to win £500 if they lost, I'd still want England to win, but would be a nice cushion if they didn't. Who goes into a bet that they want to lose? What would be the point in that? Whether I wanted them to win or not is irrelevant, I'd be profiting b...

Re: Ingerlund Vs Tunisia

After all the drama of the past few days, and the apparent difficulty that the 'big' teams are having at putting away the minnows, I think you'd have to be delighted to come away from this evening with an underwhelming 1-0 win.

Re: BETTING THREAD - 2018 World Cup

If people are thinking about placing a few bets this eve then I'd suggest they listen to the latest 'Only Balls and Horses' podcast where Nick Goff (excellent football tipster) rattles through all the groups and gives some good pointers.

Re: England’s World Cup Finals 2018

Personally I'd just about have Sterling over Rashford. Sterling gets a bad rep because his end product isn't always perfect, but his movement/pace etc is excellent and will be important when breaking down the two teams first up who are more likely to sit back. Despite my initial reservations I'm rea...

Re: New Manager Press Conference 12pm today

Despite my initial negativity about the appointment, I'm certainly coming round to the idea. I very much doubt Clement goes into clubs advocating 'boring, negative' football. After all, it's not like the Chelsea, Madrid, and Munich teams he coached played that way. It should also be noted that his o...

Re: who do you want as the new manager

Despite all the defeats and negative football we have had to endure this season, by far the biggest disappointment of the past few months for me is the return of the gurning moron to this board.

Re: who do you want as the new manager

According to The Telegraph we've chosen Clement ahead of Cotterill.

Now Clement certainly doesn't excite me, but I can at least see a potential upside to his appointment, so if it was a straight choice between those 2 then ultimately I'm quite pleased with the outcome.

Re: Stam Gone

McDermolenko Lol so it turns out he wasn’t even sacked, he walked.

Surely that means Ulderink is a realistic possibility?

Like oxf*rd did he walk. 'Mutual consent' will just mean we've managed to sell it to him in a way that we don't have to pay quite so much compo.

Re: who do you want as the new manager

Clement in at 1/3 Presuming this is happening.... Betting markets for new managers are moved so easily that all it will have taken is one wise ass to put a tenner on at 8/1 and that will have sent the odds tumbling down (leads to a vicious cycle as people then think that's indicative of him being t...

Re: who do you want as the new manager

Can't get excited about Clement. Both Swansea and Derby fans very critical of negative, defensive tactics (heard all that before) and probably not going to bring fans back in their droves.

Re: who do you want as the new manager

Be bold, go after someone doing well in the lower leagues, not just the same old failures doing the rounds. Try someone like Paul Hurst at Shrewsbury. Agreed, the club needs some direction not just some journeyman manager in to steer the ship aimlessly for a few months. See also Nathan Jones (Luton...
