Reading 1 Nottingham Forest 1

http://www.sportinglife.com/football/li ... 50904.html

Robert Earnshaw accepted a gift from Reading goalkeeper Adam Federici to give Billy Davies' Nottingham Forest a well-deserved npower Championship point at the Madejski Stadium.

Alex Pearce had put the Royals ahead against the run of play before Federici - who was outstanding in the first period to keep Forest at bay - made a horrible mess of a clearance to allow Wales international Earnshaw to pounce.

Brian McDermott's men have yet to find the rhythm which made them a potent force after Christmas last season and in the end were glad to share the points with their much-fancied visitors.

Forest midfielder Paul McKenna injured himself during the warm-up so Poland international Radoslaw Majewski came into the line-up.

And Majewski was first to chance his arm with a long-range effort which was well saved by Federici before the hosts were also forced into an early change.

Right-back Andy Griffin lasted less than nine minutes before limping off to be replaced by Brynjar Gunnarsson and it was Federici who was called into action again moments later to deny Earnshaw.

Forest had controlled all the play but it was Reading who stole ahead against the run of play in the 15th minute.

Marcus Williams delivered a free-kick from wide on the right and when Jimmy Kebe rose to head back across goal Pearce was unmarked to hammer in a volley from close range.

Forest countered sharply and Paul Anderson was the latest to be denied by Federici who held his header, before Jobi McAnuff scuffed a shot wide at the other end as the half came to an end.

Forest would have felt hard done by at the break but they rallied well to level in the 50th minute in comedy circumstances.

Federici has made a habit during his Royals career of starting counter attacks quickly by launching kicks downfield but the Australian made a real hash of his effort to gift Forest a goal.

Federici made a routine claim from a cross and looked to smash the ball up the pitch but only succeeded in kicking into the back of defender Matt Mills.

Earnshaw was quick to react and after dancing round the prone goalkeeper tapped into an empty net.

Anderson fired over from 20 yards as Forest pushed for a first win of the campaign while the best the home side could muster was a free-kick from Gylfi Sigurdsson which drifted narrowly over.

That's a very poor report. Don;t think they get much right about our goal, or their goal and very harsh on Camp to ignore 3 top class saves and claim our only second half effort was Gylfi's free kick. You wonder why they bother if they can't actually do a decent match report....

Reading 1-1 Forest

http://www.thisisnottingham.co.uk/news/ ... ticle.html

NOTTINGHAM Forest battled their way to a hard-earned point at Reading, as a bizarre goal from Robert Earnshaw helped them claw their way back from behind.

The striker struck in the 49th minute after a mistake from keeper Adam Federici, canceling out a first-half strike from Alex Pearce.

Billy Davies will again have been cursing his luck however, with his side's habit of failing to make the most of their chances maintained on a day when they might have claimed all three points.

Forest had been forced into a late change to their squad as skipper Paul McKenna limped out of the pre-match warm-up with a hamstring problem.

Pole Radi Majewski was drafted into the side instead.

And, after only nine minutes, Reading themselves had to make a change as Andy Griffin picked up a problem and was replaced by Bryn Gunnarsson.

By that stage, the home side could have been behind already, with Majewski having failed to properly connect with a shot at the far post, following a deep cross from the advancing Luke Chambers.

And Forest twice came close again, through the lively figure of Earnshaw.

Firstly the striker was sent scampering into the box following a clever ball from Dexter Blackstock, only for Adam Federici to beat him to it.

And the keeper made an even better save moments later, when the striker cut in to bend a shot menacingly towards the bottom corner.

Forest then went behind in controversial fashion, as Jimmy Kebe appeared to handle the ball (this is a joke, right? FC) as it was half cleared from the Forest box – but play was allowed to continue, with the Malian delivering the ball back into the danger zone, where, after a mad scramble, Alex Pearce drove the ball into the back of the net.

Federici was at his impressive best again as half-time approached, diving full-stretch high to his left to steer away a diving header from Paul Anderson, following good work from Blackstock wide on the left.

Although Jobi McAnuff also came close to adding a second for Reading, firing wide when presented with a good opportunity ten yards out.

And Camp had to produce heroics to deny Marcus Williams, plunging to his left to swat away a shot from the left-back after he had advanced down the flank.

Camp was in action immediately in the second half, pushing away a drive from Brian Howard as Reading forced a flurry of corners.

But it was Federici who blotted his copy book at the other end, with a remarkable mistake that handed Forest an equaliser in the 49th minute.

The keeper drove an attempted clearance, when under little pressure, into a melee of players that included Pearce and Earnshaw – and the striker emerged with the ball, taking the ball around the Reading number one and slotting it into an empty net.

At this stage, Forest were the team that looked the more likely to score, with Earnshaw coming close to finding a hole in the Reading defence, Anderson brought down just as he surged down the flank and substitute Lewis McGugan heading wide – although the effort would have been ruled out for offside.

But Gylfi Sigurdsson also bent a spectacular shot narrowly the wrong side of the post for Reading, as the home side forged a spell of pressure of their own.

A clever free-kick saw Cohen drive a shot that was deflected wide, while McGugan stumbled at the vital moment after he had done all the hard work, riding two challenges to dance into the box.

Forest owed a debt of thanks to Camp again however, as he reacted smartly to push away a Kebe effort late on.

Substitute Nathan Tyson missed a late chance to shine at his former club, firing wide from the edge of the box.

The draw may have seen Forest notch up their 13th away game without a win, but it will still have been regarded as a satisfying point by Davies.

Noboby seems to know who Federici hit with the ball. I think it was Gylfi - FC.

Indeed it was. If Jem had been paying attention intead of staring at the ground as he ran past Feds he wouldn't have run in front of him.

He's level with Feds when Feds, and most of the crowd, saw the ball to Kebe was on. By the time Feds kicks he's bang in the middle at the front of the D and he didnt look up from the ground once.

Confirmed:

Royals were good value for their lead, but it all went wrong when Australia keeper Federici struck midfielder Jem Karacan with a goal clearance.

Two terrible reports. Lol at us being happy with a point and our best second half attempt being a free kick Gylfi put five meters over rather than the numerous quality saves we forced Camp into.

The commentators managed to spot it live without any problem. Although it's pretty obvious it's harder to spot live. But as I said, from the highlights, it's very clear.
