Best ever Reading left back

by marcusopp » 31 Aug 2010 20:26

We've had some interesting left backs over the years.
A category which definately includes Ian Harte!
People probably said the same about Shorey, £65k from Orient.

For me though, it's got to be Dylan Kerr my lord, dylan kerr ohh lord dylan kerr!

I know he was sh1t, but i loved him! Saw him score a cracker against stoke too in a 4-0 win

Shorey comes close for best ever Reading player, but we have had some good ones at left back. Gilkes was probably the best ever wing back and Dylan Kerr was just great. Armstrong had one year with us and was player of the season (I presume he is past tense now) and Sean Cummings has now played a competent game as well.

Shorey.

Harte's good, but he's never played for England.

Ian Harte was superb for Leeds United. If he is half as good now for Reading then you'll be well happy

All of Dyl's goals were spectacularly awesome. WITHOUT EXCEPTION.

Shorey was a better player, but after Kerr lead the singing in the away end at Luton all those years ago, he was always going to be my favourite.

We were in the 3rd tier when we signed Shorey. At the time we had Robinson who, at the time was class compared with the dross we had endured since the removal of Dylan Kerr.

We have had some very good ones over the years who have been more than competent. Alan Lewis, Steve Richardson, Gilkesy was brilliant as a wing back. But if I had to stick my neck out it would have to be Nicky Shorey by a country mile. Now, if we had purchased Ian Harte 10 years ago...

Ah those were the days...Dylan Kerr, Gilkesey and Steve Richardson who was great for RFC, and I don't think I ever saw him have a bad game.

Obviously Shorey but I rated Mark White a lot pre 1981 particularly before he got a serious knee injury.

Can only be Steve Richardson, he was about 5"6' but could jump like 6"2'. From what i can remember he seemed to get player of the year every season.
