So take note of the 1-6 and 1-2 but ignore the ten months undefeated?

'Tough place to go'

How is any professional ground a 'tough place to go'. 90% of places aren't a hostile environment anymore, they get pampered to and from the ground, have great facilities at most grounds, pretty much standard is a decent pitch.

Millwall isn't a tough place to go anymore, it really is a nonsense phrase.

Beg to differ.
Big, noisy, hostile crowds not only lift the home team, but they definitely have an influence on refereeing decisions.
You need to have a United defender with a rifle in his hand to get a penalty at OT!
In our division, Carrow Road and Elland Road fit the description above.

You call Carrow Road "big", "noisy" and "hostile"? Erm, hardly. Big maybe, noisy and hostile? I've seen more hostility from Reading fans

But at least the entire Barclay End is allowed to stand up. Every game.

ONLY if he actually fires it and kills/maims an opposition player

Must have imagined Liverpool's Sunday then.

OT is such a 'fortress' because they are better than 98% of teams in this country. That's more to do with it than it being a hostile cauldron. There are 75,000 there sitting in silence waiting for 'Utd' to crush whoever is in opposition. It's the opposing teams cup final.

Not as bad as going out of the cup at home to Northampton though, on penalties, how useless is that?

Oh god no, not those animals in the Barclay End. The idea of thousands of middle-class yellow shirt wearing poofs hurling delia smith cooked sausage rolls into the away end really gets my popper flapping. No thanks.

Pretty sure I heard McDermott on the radio laughing at the 'it's a tough place to go' cliche himself after he used it in the build up to the 'Boro game.

It's just a thow away cliche, they're hardly going to say yeah this is an easy place to come are they!

They should have a manager dictionary

That's the first contribution.

2nd, 'They are well organised' - Actually means the opposition are a bit rubbish.

"They set their stall out" - actually means that the opposition arranged their eleven players in some sort of tactical formation, with each man assigned an individual position.

"They have a real danger man in Striker A"

Said player is actually pretty rubbish, but could still outpace Alex Pearce so needs to be watched.

that's not a cliche or a euphamism though. That's just what it means.

"The referee made the wrong decision"

Basically we lost, but we maybe had a chance of winning but for a ridiculously minute decision and we were actually dogshit.
