Alan Partridge 'Tough place to go'
How is any professional ground a 'tough place to go'. 90% of places aren't a hostile environment anymore, they get pampered to and from the ground, have great facilities at most grounds, pretty much standard is a decent pitch.
Millwall isn't a tough place to go anymore, it really is a nonsense phrase.

handbags_harris You call Carrow Road "big", "noisy" and "hostile"? Erm, hardly. Big maybe, noisy and hostile? I've seen more hostility from Reading fans

Beg to differ.
Big, noisy, hostile crowds not only lift the home team, but they definitely have an influence on refereeing decisions.
You need to have a United defender with a rifle in his hand to get a penalty at OT!
In our division, Carrow Road and Elland Road fit the description above.

But at least the entire Barclay End is allowed to stand up. Every game.

Hoop Blah Pretty sure I heard McDermott on the radio laughing at the 'it's a tough place to go' cliche himself after he used it in the build up to the 'Boro game.
It's just a thow away cliche, they're hardly going to say yeah this is an easy place to come are they!

Alan Partridge They should have a manager dictionary
That's the first contribution.
2nd, 'They are well organised' - Actually means the opposition are a bit rubbish.

FiNeRaIn Oh no, not those animals in the Barclay End. The idea of thousands of middle-class yellow shirt wearing poofs hurling delia smith cooked sausage rolls into the away end really gets my popper flapping. No thanks.
Sat 12 Feb 2011, location Norwich....not for the feint hearted.

Very good.
"they tend to work the channels" - They lump it towards the corner, and play kick and rush
