Back From The Game - Ipswich Town

by SLAMMED » 28 Sep 2010 23:28

Pleased with the result. Could have gone either way but a hard earned 3 points.

Another big LOL @ the twats who left before the goal just so they could be home 5 minutes quicker

Can I just say I thought Karacan put in a performance that Harper SHOULD have been putting in for years. Fair play to lad, some brave play in there

.....and cummings

Night for the unsung heroes. Jem, Cummings, Stretch and Pearce were the picks for me.

That was one of the hardest-earned wins I've seen from us in a while. Everyone in the team put a shift in in a game where the teams were evenly matched and played similar games so to come away with the win is excellent.

Special mention to Pearce today - lots of criticism recently (from me too!) but he didn't put a foot wrong and took charge when Mills got sent off.

'Greed but the best player of the night was the Ipswich number 2 - he was simply outstanding!

Gotta be close to the youngest first team plus subs for both sides combined in any game at this level? Stattos?

Shane Long MOTM. First touch lovely, defended well in the second half and used his pace well.

Ref poor.

Kebe. Jeez, where do you start. If he actually put in some hard work that went along with his obvious talent he'd defo be Prem bound. It's when it suits with Kebe.

Ipswich. Hard working. Keano is a p*ss poor manager. When it went 10-a-side, he did not have a clue.

Karacan MOM for me. Cracking performance. Pearce was immense.

Mills really frustrates me, sometimes fantastic, other times a kn0b. Today he was the latter, why on earth did he need to body check the Ipswich player off the ball? When on a yellow, you DON'T do that kind of thing. Idiot, and could have cost us the game. Luckily it didn't.

Harte slotted in pretty well at CB, and Feds was very confident.

How did Scotland miss that chance in the first half though?

Well I enjoyed that - an excellent result and a good game of the chess like variety. Both sides closed down well and it was very tight but well done to the lads for keeping a clean sheet and getting another late winner.

Fed - 7 did everything he needed to do well
Cummings - 8 - excellent tonight
Mills - 5 poor performance by his standards and gave the ref a chance to even things up
Pearce - 8 excellent strong performance
Harte - 7 - did ok - delivery improved in the second half
Armstrong - 8 - also excellent tonight - constantly broke play up and did not look like a player who had been out for a year
Karacan - 9 MOTM performance - ran his socks off
Kebe - 6 - not so effective against an excellent Peters
McAnuff - 7 - did ok in the off the striker role in a difficult game - would like to see him given another chance in this role
Robson-Kanu - 8 - very good performance
Long - 8 - so important to us - he did brilliantly against some agricultural defending

Antonio - 6 - did well
Church - 6 - one touch - one goal
Hunt - 5 - not much to rate

McD - 9 - I really like the way that he changes the shape according to whom we are playing and makes whatever shape we play work. Neither Coppell or Rodgers managed to achieve this.

I don't think he was 100% fit tbh.
SO I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.

i have to say their left back put in the best display ive seen from an opposing defender in many a year, simply outstanding.

Cummings looks a totally different player and fair play to him a lesser man could have quit football after last seasons horror shows.

Karacan, stepped up nicely since Sigurdsson left.

If Clyne for Palace did a job on MacAnuff the other week then Peters is the left-back in the team of the year so far. To criticise Kebe after a MOTM performance from his opposite number is mindless.

Another typically shit piece of BBC reporting:
Some knobby BBC reporter The Royals were forced to finish the game with nine men after Karacan was injured in the build-up to the goal, but they held on to move up to sixth in the Championship, one place above the Tractor Boys

Defo agreed. That was his most complete performance for the club.

Was Jem's shot going in anyway before Church flicked it in? Couldn't tell at all from where I was.
