Howard is not gash.

Hes clearly not a brilliant player but is evidently effective at this level and offers effort, some unpredictable creativity and a decent finish.

I'm pretty sure this trialist is not Gary Twigg.

The trialist is not gary twigg or paddy madden!! the first game the trialist played was on the 5th of october. the same day shamrock rovers were playing bohemians which gary twigg nd paddy madden play for!! also it looks like paddy madden is on his way to celtic! so he could be ruled out!

There's a 50% chance it was Gary Twigg.

Two stories seem to have intertwined here. The Chronicle only said that the Club have been watching an Irish player who they believe was either Twigg or Madden. I don't think they claimed either was the mystery trialist.

As i said, I'm pretty sure it wasn't either of those two.

Normally mystery trialists are players who are registered with southern non-league sides who we never here about until they're gone. Anyone decent they like to shout from the roof tops about!

Not if they are unnattached players who we don't want other clubs to find out about. Take an example - if we had Jay DeMerit on trial do you think they would be telling the football world about it? (However it would be hard to keep that one a secret).

Plus, I think McDermott would have better sense than to trial a player who makes Alex Pearce look like Usain Bolt!
(Though he did trial Lee Hendrie)

Ideal Well, Alex Pearce also makes Jay DeMerit look like Franco Baresi.. so that goes both ways.

No you're just being silly. Snowball! Some stats please!

Happy to pick that one up!

Pearce has played 9 (league) games this season with one sub appearance. Using starts only we're averaging 1.44 points per game with him in the side and conceeding 1 goal per game.

Of the 9 goals we've conceeded when he's started, having carefully looked over the highlights recently, he could arguably have been singularly at fault for two of them. Although I think personally both would have been harsh calls against him, oh and they were in one particular game so could be an anomalie.

Sorry no stats for Baresi or De Merit, but Mills as the only other player to have played a comparable number of games in defence has started 8, 1.75 points / game, 0.88 goals conceeded / game. But of the 7 goals conceeded when he's started he has arguably been singularly at fault for two goals (stronger contenders than Pearce's IMO) and jointly with Fed for another. And he's been sent off. Again, just league games.

:)
