Reading vs Cardiff Match Thread

Reading: Federici; Griffin, Harte, Khizanishvili (c), Mills; Karacan, Howard; McAnuff; Church, Hunt, Long
Subs: McCarthy, Cummings, Pearce, Armstrong, Antonio, Tabb, Robson-Kanu

3 strikers on the pitch!

Cardiff: Heaton; Matthews, Naylor, Blake, Hudson (c); McPhail, Olofinjana, Burke, Whittingham, Bothroyd, Chopra
Subs: Marshall, Wildig, Rae, Drinkwater, Koumas, Keogh

URZ!

Bizarre.

I'd guess that means Church right wing in a 4-4-2 rather than 4-3-3. Hardly a ringing endorsement of HRK or Antonio if so.

So presumably Hunt playing wide and Church and Long up-front. Happy with that.

So Hunt wide left then, seeing as that's where he played vs QPR!?

I know HRK hasn't produced much and Antonio looks far from the finished article, but is it bad enough to play a striker out wide? Little harsh on Tabb, who might have done a job as a wide midfielder giving us a bit more bite.

Certainly agree about Tabb. I'd still like to see him start.

He's been a little "headless chicken" since Burnley. Lots of hustle and bustle when perhaps he would be better served taking a bit more time every now and then. Karacan and he both have too much of a tendency to just have a swing at the ball and hook it forward rather than put their foot on it and play a pass to feet.

Could be what the manager wants of course, but I hope not.

Assume Tabby is being given a rest (if so fair enough after a long injury layoff).
