Harper returns with Hull

by Meeko » 21 Jan 2011 13:45

Just wondered what people's feelings will be towards him when he plays tommorow? For me he was part of the most successsful spell for the club, always gave 100% and didnt bad mouth Reading when he moved on, it was just a case of his face not fitting anymore when he left, i think he probably will and does deserve a good and welcomed reception!

thoroughly nice chap, excellent footballer, reading FC leg end, banter master, big mouth, top pointer.treated shabbily by brendan rodgers and th eclub when forced out the door.

will get a bigger round of applause from me, than almost any other 05/06 player on their return

I like him, will get a polite applause like all returning players who left on good terms.

Although I forgot we had a match tomorrow, hooray!

Another thread about former players and the PAST. I'm sure he'll get a good reception but honestly when are some of you going to move on and forget this sort of thing.

Personally I think that every member of that 05/06 squad (yes, even Stephen hunt) should get a huge round of applause when they return to the Madejski. They were responsible for giving us something truly special, and something that fans who have been supporting the club a lot longer than me never thought they were going to see. So yes, I'll be giving Harper a cheer when his name is read out.

(I would absolutely love it if the crowd spent the entire first half pointing at him though)

The edge will be taken off he welcome return after he scored against us at the KC. He looked a better player playing for them.

I thought it was an interesting question given the criticism he got from some Nobbers near the end of his career. I suppose you feel that debates on what people wear are more relevant to The Team board?

Disagree, his first game returning back where he made his name. He scored in front of 300 Reading fans and tomorrow he'll be infront of 16,000.

I thought during our second season in the Prem he was our best player. Looked every inch a Premier league player. Was never the same after that maybe he just could'nt adapt to life in the Championship after the high of the Prem league. Will get a good reception I'm sure of that.

Absolute legend and will get a resunding round of applause from me when his name's read out. As for being treated shabbily by the club, you'd of thought he'd have been chuffed to leave considering how he was rated by experts on here and in the east stand

Harper was a top player for us, I wouldn't go as far as to say legend but still a great player none the less. I 'fell out of love' with him nearer the end of his career here but can't forget what he did for us in 05/06, and long before that.

Rosenior on the other hand is a first class prick.

his banter was SHIT and he gave 100% if you consider football to be 10 yard shuttle runs at half pace across the centre circle

that's the devil's advocate view of course with a large element of truth, was a top player for us nonetheless

oh and his banter was SHIT

Rosenior was not a bad player. His problem was having to follow the legend that was Murts.

His goal against Liverpool has to go down as one of the most famous Reading goals ever.
