roadrunner Home win. We're not in the best of form ourselves and Sheffield United are fighting for their lives. The Reading of old that used to lose to the weaker sides but play up to the bigger sides is creeping back, and it would be typical of us to get spanked in a game we shouldn't.

Sheff Utd 2 Reading 1 (Long, Pen)

Subdued away support, over excited home support.

I'm sorry but, I don't agree! We have been in good form. Before the Cardiff game, may I remind you, we were on an unbeaten streak and unfortunate late goals haven't necessarily been a true reflection on the way we've played! (Okay, 2nd half against QPR wasn't good...) but we still put up a fight and lost narrowly. So I am going with a win, 0-2 to the Royals.

Any idea on when Pearce will be back? Him missing has coincided with our drop in form, Mills and Pearce > Mills and Ingi!
Oh and drop Harte please MaccyD.

If you consider who we have played in our last eight games, (bolded) note where they are in the form table
Cardiff 2.33 points per game, Hull 2ppg, QPR 2 ppg, Burnley 1.83 (their only defeat being by us!), Norwich 1.83, Swansea 1.67)

We have played a lot of sides high in the overall table and also on the top of their form

Then note our next 9 opponents <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

Form-wise we have 20th, 15th, 11th next, followed by 16th, 12th, 10th, and then 23rd, 14th, 17th

We have only played Doncaster from these off-form lot and we won 0-3 up there.

No Leighterwood or Karacan and we're playing a team desperately trying to avoid the drop? I am hoping that we can claw out a 2-1 result in our favor. I can see this going very badly. These kind of fixtures are the ones which worry me most at times...

But I'll stick with my 2-1 Reading prediction. It is a "must win" for us...

I think that it is more down to the fact that Ledge is missing...

Maybe, but I think you can factor in the two. Sloppy goals conceded as Ingi isn't up to it anymore, I just think with Ledge and Pearce in the team, we're much more solid.

Not beating teams above us is a worry though.

However on the above stats, I feel much better. Lets hope we get a result tomorrow.

Are they there in the form table partly because they got to play us though?

It would be much more illuminating to see where they were placed in the form table immediately prior to playing us.... rather than in one extreme, maybe 6 games after they played us.

I have never seen us lose at Bramel lane 5 visits 2 wins 3 draws am going to this. So a 1-0 win me thinks.

You mean the Reading team yet to beat a side in the top 6 this season?

All it takes is to LOOK. For example Cardiff have W4 D2, one of those draws was against us. Had they WON they'd be top on form, so we did very well to get a draw (and should've won)

Hull W3 D3 and two of those draws were us holding them back.

Burnley W3 D2 L1 and their defeat is to us. Yet again. they'd very probably be higher if they HADN'T played us

Ideal My prediction is Ian Harte's lack of pace will cost us at least one goal, then he will get booked at least once for something unsportsmanly, try at least once to get an opponent booked, and feign injury at least once, and he will hog all the set pieces and make terrible deliveries on every single one, thereby ruining any chance we have of scoring from a set piece (unless it's a direct shot at goal).

As Howard took two of the shittest corners I've ever seen on Saturday I hope Harte does "hog all the set pieces".

True - Howard's corners were embarrassing but it's also true that Harte's deadball delivery was awful. Perhaps it's time to give someone else a go? Mills?!
Or more seriously Tabb or Griffin, but definitely not Harte, please!!

Don't see that as a major problem, I'd be very happy if Cummings came in.
