Team for Watford (H)

by Boyle the Royal » 17 Feb 2011 16:35

--------------Feds--------------

Griffin---Mills---Ingi---Harte

Kebe----Leg-----Howard---Jobi

---------Hunt------Long--------

I'd prefer Howard over Tabb playing with Leg in the middle. I've never been Tabb's biggest fan and don't really agree with the criticism Howard gets on here. He spreads the ball around well and IMO is more likely to create chances for the front two.

Would play Hunt ahead of Manset. The Beast needs a few more decent substitute appearances to warrant a starting place, plus Noel "loves it here" so deserves to play.

Id settle for that with Armstrong in for Harte, or Cummings in for Harte, don't mind who. I'd also prefer to see Khiz in at the back but neither of those will happen and Tabb will play instead of Howard.

I would be fairly happy with that team if they are all fit. If Pearce isn't then I would go for Zurab. Once he is fit again I can't see the harm in having Morrison on the bench soon to get him involved with the first team with a view to giving him a run later in the season if he is impressing in training. It is not as if he is a complete rookie. As he is injured I would have Ivar on the bench. I guess Church will come back onto the bench if Manset isn't fit.

Of course in reality the two full backs will be the old pros but I can see McDermott playing the rest of Silas's team if possible.

We need a few personnel changes but the spring 2010 team was great:

Federici

Griffin
Mills
Pearce
Cummings for Bertrand

Leigertwood for Tabb
Howard
Antonio for MacAnuff
Kebe

MacAnuff for Sigurdson

Long

Obviously, when it's 0-1 with 25 minutes left revert to 442 and hoof the ball up to Manset. Also, I've no idea if Cummings would play left-back, but I'm not sure Harte can either.

I'm not in favour of dumping Gunnarsson and retaining Howard after the former outshone the latter so comfortably on tuesday. I'm surprised so many are.

Fed

Griffin
Mills (dropped for Pearce if he's fit)
Ingimarsson
Harte (what's the point in saying Armstrong, it isn't going to happen)

Kebe
Leigertwood
Gunnarsson
McAnuff

Long
Hunt

Fedders
Griffin Zurab Mills Cummings
Kebe Leigertwood Howard McAnuff
Long Hunt

Would play Pearce ahead of Mills if he was fit. Hunt deserves to be back in the starting line up, he brought the best out of Shane. Howard simply for his creativity, slightly harsh on Tabb.

Because this is the team that we would like to see, not what McDermott is going to pick. Not sure many of us expect to see Armstrong play tomorrow....

Gunnar played well v Sheffield but it's often the case
that first game back players do well on adrenaline, but then
look weaker for a while as they get full match-fitness

Tabb at Burnley was very good, and then how long did he take to get some real form?

Players get worse as they near full match-fitness. That's a new one.
