QPR points deduction?

by Svlad Cjelli » 09 Mar 2011 18:16

This is in General Football but also worth covering here as it has an impact on the promotion places :

QPR have just been charged with 7 counts of fielding an ineligible player - including providing false documentation to cover this up - so all bets on their points total could be off.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/queens-park-rangers/8371690/Queens-Park-Rangers-face-points-deduction-after-fielding-ineligible-player.html

And for the chance to see Colin spontaneously combust with fury, is there any better news?

erm... it could potentially be all the points they've won whilst playing him I think. (please please please)

Won't be of course, as the nearest recent precedent is Tevez which was a £5m fine.

LOL @ Warnock - esp as he was the most vocal when WHU managed to send Sheff Utd down when playing Tevez!!

Of course, they'll just get a fine and it won't mean a thing to the club, as they have wealthy owners.

Colin has been here before. I don't like the bloke, but it's difficult to deny that for whatever reason, he has the best side in the league this year. Much as I would love to see his smugness wiped away, I don't see how Queens of the Park Rangers can be hit when WHU were not. That said, a fine would have to be hefty enough to act as a deterrent. Whatever the outcome, it will be interesting to see how Colin plays this one.

He'll say he wasn't there when they originally signed him and he knew nothing about it - probably.

The big difference, it appears here, is that QPR are charged with knowingly submitted false documents - presumably to cover up what they knew was wrong. That's a big, big deal...

The FA The Club and Club Official Gianni Paladini are also charged in respect of allegedly false information contained in documents submitted to The FA in relation to the same player signing an extension to his playing contract with the Club in October 2010. These charges are brought under the Players Agents Regulations, C2, and FA Rule E3.

Wasn't the compensation paid to Sheffield Utd over the Tevez thing because there *should* have been a points deduction but wasn't?

And even if it doesn't come to a points deduction, the whole thing hanging over them will hopefully upset and destabilise the bastards.

I think there is a lower league precedent where you lose all points you gained when playing that player. Which would mean a 59 point deduction dropping them into last place 27 points off safety.

Never mind the league positions - I just want to see the look on Warnock's face.

Hold your horses everyone. Wouldn't this increase the chances of QPR keeping Legiertwood on if they didn't go up?
