Money In, Money Out Predictions

by Big Ern » 31 May 2011 18:32

Your thoughts on how much we will recieve in transfer fees, and how much of that will be used to replace those departing?

We will bring in around £9 million on the sale of Long, Feds and Kebe. The signings from Brentford and Cork City will cost in the region of two bottles of Tizer so money out less than a fiver.

I reckon about £9M in and £1.2M out. Thats not including the fee for Elwood, reckon that used the Sig money fo that.

Normally we spend about 10% of what we bring in, but with the Play Off Final Revenue, maybe we will up that to about 15% this year.

Didn't you get £7m for Gylfi? And spend none of it?

Ok - mayeb Leigertwood for £1m now.

So on the basis of you bringing in £15 million, I think spending will be around the £2m - £3m mark.

Money in:

Long £4m
Feds £1.5m
Kebe £3m (last minute Aug 30th desperation buy by one of the promoted clubs)

IN: £8.5m (plus wages saved from kicking Howard out, at long last).

Money out
Decent striker £1.5-2m
Winger (Keith Treacy?) £1-1.5m
A full-back with some pace from lower leagues £700k

OUT: £3.2m - £4.2m, plus our wage bill would be lower.

This ought to be deliverable, given the £1.5-2m windfall from Monday on top of transfer profit.

You've been supporting Reading FC long enough to know there is no chance we will spend as much as that.

We've done it before. And we're starting from a position of (relative) financial strength.

id say we would probably spend about half of whatever we bring in this summer.
with ivar, brynn, long etc gone the wage bill is now manageable within budget, and we should be good to spend much of what we bring in.

but i thought wed win the playoff final 4-3 when we were 3-0 down, so what do i know
