Depressing

by friday fan » 08 Aug 2011 12:49

I guess its not often as a RFC fan that I feel in a bit of a downward mood but it seems Shane Long is finally off, sure a great fee to help plug the annual black hole. I haven't been excited about a signing our club has made for some years and indeed don't look forward to the start of the season because I sit here and wait to see who is sold. We continue to go either down 2 divisions to get palyers or non league. We haven't even been to Ireland to get another Doyle or Long. I sat there last season watching all the ex Royals playing prem football wishing they were still here, feeling confident that we'd get either one or two in the final day positions. It grated on me to see Brendan Rodgers offered more latitude in funds at Swansea cpmpared to what he was offered here. I'm sick of SJM not making a positive statement and thanking fans for their support and I'm sick of those people who rejoice in SJM's position and past as if he was some saviour. A great number of RFC fans look forward to match day and make financial sacrifices to watch their team and I cringe when we continue to sell our assets season after season without any investment in the club. How many black holes need to be filled. SJM invested in a football club, he knows what football delivers financially and sorry to say but I do believe funds received from transfers goes to fill black holes in his other interests. This is not where has the money gone thread, this is SJM deliver to the fans some forward thinking and confirmation that your ambition for the club is at the highest level. When you part with money to buy a product there is on most occasions a gurantee given, well SJM give us, the RFC fans the guarantee that your ambitions meet the dedication of those who follow this great club.

Please no positive SJM propaganda, I just want to see how many people feel as flat as i do.

Shane Long best of luck lad and we hope one day to welcome you back even in the opposition, I for one would give you a rousing reception.

What's depressing is the size of that paragraph and another thread on this.

My feelings exactly. How many other clubs manage to instil a feeling of dread before the start of the first game of a new campaign?! We haven't won the first game of the season for how long? Maybe that's because there is still uncertainty hanging over the squad too.

It really did become an effort to go to the Millwall game on Saturday and, for a lot of the game, I regretted having done so. Yes, Manset's fantastic cameo lifted the atmosphere but in the end all it really did was paper over some gaping cracks, particularly in our defence.

Now Long's departure looks even more inevitable and I await the usual BS from the club about lack of money, clubs not wanting to let players go, no one better than who we already have etc. etc. McDermott will be left expected to produce yet another miracle in what looks a frighteningly strong division this season. He can't keep doing it, particularly losing such quality at the start of each season and expected to run things on an ever diminishing budget. His skill/luck will eventually run out and then yet another damn good manager will be left carrying the can for his superiors' failings.

Tough! You'll keep getting them until Madejski starts to walk the walk. What makes matters worse is the egotistical sod keeps coming out on the pitch asking for the applause from his obedient subjects. What other supporters have to put up with such antics from their chairman?!

Don't accept that. Most supporters at all levels of football go into the opening game with a high level of optimism. I doubt there are that many who season after season are left waiting to see who their chairman is going to agree to sell this time around.

every real club in the country has fans who can write something like... I guess its not often as an Arsenal fan that I feel in a bit of a downward mood but it seems Fabregas is finally off, sure a great fee...

Go away and support Man City or Chelsea if you really can't cope with seeing one of our players move on

^ this - why anyone should be surprised or disappointed that Long looks a dead cert to go is beyond me - the club have been telling us this would happen for months....

So Siggy and ShLong get sold and our club is all of a sudden the definition of suicidal depression. Get a grip.

Go and support Rochdale

But it's not just one is it. And if there was a decent prospect of them being replaced with some quality (albeit not the same value/cost) it might be different.

As for going away, why doesn't Madejeski put his money where his mouth is instead and f*ck off and play in an ego game where he can actually afford to compete!

That having been said, I seriously am considering just watching my kids play at a reasonably high level where the Chairmen and committees of clubs really do deserve applause for their life's work in keeping their clubs running when they are ordinary people not amongst some of the richest in the country.

Royalwaster I was excited by the Leigertwood signing ...

And his signing added to/strengthened last season's team how? 1 step forwards, two steps back.

Yeah, It's a shambles that RFC have not gone to that tree in Cork where more Kevin Doyles and Shane Longs are growing!

With the ground only around 3/4 full on Saturday, I think that is a thoroughly arrogant response to a fellow supporter's misgivings about the way the club is run - even if you don't agree with his opinion.

We've never packed out the ground (aside from the premiership) at the beginning of any season.
