Perspective

by teignmouth hoops » 02 Nov 2011 11:00

Surely we need to get last nights defeat into perspective. In the last 6 games we have played 4 out of the top 5 teams, none of them have beaten us, the problem has been we have drawn all those games & sadly 4 admirable draws only equals 4 points, but more importantly 8 points lost. Defence seems pretty tight, midfield of Ledge & Kara is good but the wide men are not producing, and the forwards apart from Alfie are not good enough, he is a poacher and needs a good forward to play off and to knock in his rebounds, once that happens we'll be sailing up the league

The perspective as far as I saw it was that 466 Reading fans spent their time and money to watch us get one shot on target, in the 92nd minute, against very poor opposition.

I am a little disappointed that after watching 9 games, I've seen 1 win

When does Brian Howard get back, I see Millwall can't stop scoring since he went there.

thats one kind of perspective yes.
but youre never guaranteed a good game and a win.
and tbf, most people who support reading, didnt really start cos thats what they expected every week.

Agreed and I have seen some pretty dire stuff over the years.

No matter who you support, you should be able to expect more than what we offered last night as a very minimum.

Could I suggest dropping the wingers altogether, and playing three up front, such as.

Feds

Cumming - Pearce - Gorkss - Harte
Legde - Tabb - Karacan
Hunt - ALF - Church

Some of us did point out that he is the only creative midfielder we have and when we are struggling to create chances surely he should have been getting a chance.

The wingers are producing the goods so why isn't Howard getting a chance?

That just wouldn't work. You'd still have ZERO creativity in the middle of the pitch and the only creative force Reading might have has just been taken out. You'd still end up with that system Hunt and Church playing wide so you've effectively still got sort of wingers just 2 people completely uncomfortable out there. On top of that you then have no cover defensively for the full backs and with Harte playing him 1 v1 or even 2 v 1 is a not a decent thought.

Our survey says
