So we have a serious lack of wingers available tonight. Can Church play on the wing?

In all seriousness, I'd play Noel wide right and move Jimmy to the left, with apologies to Mills, who should be on the bench.

Toss a coin between Church and Alf to play off Roberts

Easy

I'd just tell Clough we have a serious injury crisis and if he doesn't like it he can lump it.

No team news on the OS yet. Probably trying to decide what "injury" to give him.

Thankfully there was no gentlemans agreement that Mills couldn't play against us at the start of the season.

I cannot for the life of me understand this agreement. He is our player and nothing to do with Derby. I hope Clough will be handing over a check for his wages this week!

McDermott is a f//ing tit for agreeing to this. We hardly have any wingers fit and he's letting the opposition pick the f/ing team.

Hey McD, can you not play Kebe either as he is too fast. Yeah? Thanks, you f//ing dougnut.

Big Foot
That Friday Feeling Obviously if he were on loan but he was released/allowed to leave/transferred.

Maybe just bollocks/paper talk but I thought this kind of shit was outlawed - third party influence over team selection.

I thought it had been outlawed too after a similar 'gentlemans agreement' between Everton & United when Tim Howard joined Everton...

That's a very valid point. Just how can this sort of agreement be legitimate? How would the league have felt if the outcome of this game was critical to other clubs?

Poor old Ollie gets done for fielding a weakened team (on good grounds) but we can get away with this?

Exactly - suggest he complains to the Football League!

It's probably not quite as uncommon as people think. I wish I could remember it but there was a game in the last couple of weeks where the player had just signed from the club his new team was due to play.

Think it might have been Jutkiewitz (spelling) from Coventry to Middlesbrough but didn't play against Coventry due to a similiar "gentlemen's agreement".

Think you are all forgetting that McDermott is someone with integrity and values that we all like about him.

If he made an agreement with Clough then so be it.

Whether we agree or not we should still respect the decision made by McD??

(and before anyone else says it 'FCUK off Newbie'!!!!! - (actually just re-registered after a long time away!!!!)

Once again though do we even know if this is true?

Not saying the local rags are wrong but I've not seen anything official from either club which states this is the case.

Why are people questioning the legality of the agreement?
The fact that it's a gentlemens agreement means it's got nothing to do with anyone else.
There are probably a few bits and pieces we're not aware of regarding the contracts etc.
Maybe derby loaned him to us, where he joins properly in the summer??

Other wingers;
Obita (loaned to barnet)
Shepperd (must be fit by now)
Kebe (fit at last!)
Mills (did alright according to most)

Jordan Obita's progress may be going well at Barnet, but surely he'd be much better playing for us in this injury crisis? He can't be worse than Mills was Saturday. It's not Mill's fault, he's not a winger, it was lucky we were playing the worst team in the league, which is apparently a banana skin.

On a similar note, why do people keep saying that it's a sign of a good team that we keep winning despite getting outplayed? Hunt said a similar thing in an interview on the OS, and I'd argue that a sign of a good team is one that actually deserves to win a game, and I'd rather the players don't pat themselves on the back after a win like that on Saturday and instead concentrate on improving.

Fair enough, if it was a one off poor performance away at somewhere like Donny and we grind out a 1-0 win then I could cope with the overuse of this particular footballing cliche, but we haven't dominated a game for a long time.
