Sepp Blatter 4 Reading 2

by Millsy » 22 Aug 2012 22:01

Neanderthals will hate me.

As will those who love the idea of a foreign non-footballer ruining our game.

I'm not trying to introduce a debate about using technology for major moments because there isn't one. It's a no brainer.

Well done boys. DId us proud tonight!

So was there a goal tonight that didn't cross the line or something? Coz that's the only area for which the introduction of technology has been discussed.

Oh no, it's just 2WC1WW having his usual mindless Blatter rant.

Always found the 1 World Cup bit somewhat ironic because 1970, 1982, 1990 and 2010 kind of redress the balance. Not to mention 1980, 1988 and 1996.

In this case, goal line technology would have clearly proved the ball had crossed the line.

And Sepp Blatter was playing him onside.

To he honest, a small part of me is just happy it wasn't a cricket score, although the way England have played this summer, it was.

Have to agree. And another thing... since when was there a second half? Fookin' Blatter's making these rules up as he goes along.

That is a rather odd interpretation of the German surrender?

The Germans didn't surrender, a ceasefire was declared with the Allied powers in a position of strength. Which is why we have Armistice Day and not Victory Day. Had the war gone on til Christmas then yes, Germany would have lost as it was on the verge of economic collapse. Germany as the aggressor had to accept resonsibility for the war, hence war reparations.

Off topic I know, but more interesting than the OP.

Also you could say both the world wars were really one big World War as one led to the other anyway, and Japan and China were fighting throughout the in between period.

As well as GLT, we should have video replays for offside decisions. The linesman last night was terrible.

As a Rugby League fan, I find it astonishing that video technology isn't used in football for decisions such as offsides and balls crossing the line.

I think that with the money at stake in professional football, it really is a must.

However, I often think that football doesn't like to be seen as following other sports, hence it's stubborn stance on such matters.

Use technology to allow for the review of contraversial decisions but, as in cricket, strictly limit the number of reviews to stop teams abusing it. I suspect that in many games you wouldn't see the reviews being used at all. Teams wouldn't want to throw away a review early on in a game (for example to try to win a free kick in a fairly innocuous circumstances) just in case there is a much worse decision later on.
