No doubt somebody on here will be able to pinpoint the exact date, opponents, attendance and score.

94/95 season by my reckoning, the Pelada collarless shirt looks most in evidence, the away end is packed so maybe home to Swindon. That would make it April 1st 1995, a 3-0 win with a Stuart Lovell hatrick. Attendance about 12,500.

EDIT. Maybe not, the player's kits aren't dark enough to be Swindon and the floodlights are on so It would be earlier in the season than April unless it was the Bolton game.

I thought it might have been the Bolton game at first but IIRC that game was absolutely rammed with folks climbing over the garden fence (behind whoever took that photo) to get in but that crowd doesn't look rammed.

Obviously early in the season, because of shirt sleeves. Midweek game as the lights are on and probably the second half as Reading seem to be attacking the Tilehurst End. Going to try and blow up the photo and see if it is Shaka in the other goal. If not, it is definitely early 95-96. Will have to dig out my RFC books later.

I'm now thinking that maybe it's the play off 2nd leg against Tranmere. There's not many games to have that big an away attendance midweek

Tranmere only sold 500 or so tickets for that game. Their fans were house on the thin strip of the Town End with access from Norfolk Rd. Reading fans had the rest of the Town End with a couple of the South Bank turnstiles commandeered for entry via the walkway round the back.

There was some scaffolding put up as temporary segregation and I can't see that in this photo. So, don't think it's Tranmere. Could Be Bolton. They might have closed the gates, but the attendance was only 13,500, so even with a capacity crowd there was usually plenty of room in the corners.

Sheffield United in 1997/98?

Only say that because the photographer was present at that game.

Bolton where wearing their traditional white shirts and navy shorts that Friday night. Does not look like that from the photo.

Browsing through pictures of Emilia Clarke in a bikini on set of her new film co starring Claflin. He's obviously taking the prepation for the role seriously.

Winston Smith Nou Camp, so that all 100,000 people who claim they were at Elm Park when he bycicle kick volleyed in from 90 yards can be represented.

More like 200,000 and I HEARD he did 5 somersaults before whacking it in from the roof of the Spread Eagle.

But that's because you weren't there.

I was.

If everyone who said they were there actually were it would have been like Woodstock. Need to see a picture of the match ticket to verify your claim.

Funnily enough, I do still have my season ticket from 75/76. It's survived 4 house moves, 2 marriages and 39 years.

Decent season - can remember some of the home games, particularly the Lincoln game when Ray Hiron scored header up the Tilehurst end.

Must have been special for the older fans then as was first promotion for 50 years

I haven't listened to it yet, but thought it would be of interest.
