Jackson Corner For those interested in the Robin Friday movie there was a piece on this weeks late kick off.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b0 ... Episode_6/

The live action on the Late kick Off is from a home game in the 1975/76 promotion season Vs Lincoln towards the end of the season - they were promoted that season as champions with Graham Taylor as their manager.

I've seen no other footage of Robin in action on line -although the final game that season V Crewe was covered by Southern TV as was an earlier game (V Bradford?) as were a couple the following season in Div 3.

Wonder if that action is still in existence?

Wasn't a certain Ian Branfoot also playing for Lincoln that day as full back?

The rights and ownership of Southern TV's library is probably as elusive as Lord Lucan. Suffice to say though I suspect any future non royalty earning stock has long been disposed of and lost forever (which includes almost everything and what little quality TV Southern produced)

Worzel Gummidge was Southern TV's biggest claim to fame. Enough said.

Don't forget HOW

I would love to know if any of those 70's games are still about on VT somewhere? The Watney cup game against United was 1970 an that's still about.

Friday played, and scored, in that final game of the 1975-1976 season at home to Crewe.

The team was:
Turner
Peters Youlden Barker Moreline
Cummings Carnaby Dunphy
Hiron Friday Nelson

Friday, Dunphy and Nelson scored.

Friday scored 21 goals in his 44 league games that season.

The last 4 home league gates of that season, in Division FOUR, totalled 52,000 !!!

Looking at that line up (with the exception of Friday and Turner who had a dreadful start to his career as Reading goalkeeper when he looked awful but turned out pretty good) makes me realise how far Reading have come.

Actually, Gary Peters was a pretty good full back.

If the guy with the chicks is supposed to be Friday - God help us. In Friday's time life was split between the generations. The sixties and early seventies were vibrant with rebellion, music, drugs and a new consciousness. Friday dressed like a hippy but was'nt one. He, no doubt, had amorous liasons but they were fleeting. He also did'nt stay in one place anyway. In Reading, he was most likely to be in a pub, drinking until comatose and often alone. Fans would push him into a taxi at 11.00pm and, bizarrely, next day, whilst the Fans were still getting over their hangovers, Friday would score a hat-trick. For younger RFC Fans, imagine Messi from the darkside - and then he comes into your Pub and acts just like one of you on a Mental day.

I laughed at that. Also those nightclub scenes. I went out on the piss with him a couple of times; at the Dog and Duck in Emmbrook, which was Lisa's local, and I promise you it didn't look like that.
