blueroyals What it comes down to is are there 3 teams in this league worse than us? After the first 5 games I am struggling to name 1 team worse than us, let alone 3.

oh just f8ck off.

You might, for some reason, wish to tell Leon to f*ck off...but from the evidence I have see so far, it is a perfectly justifiable statement, though Wigan and Swansea offer some hope? Apart from a gung-ho have a go hero attempt at a giant killing act against Chelsea, I have seen little evidence to suggest that we are not deep in the sh1t.

The retreat of the defence to allow James Morrison about 15 seconds to have a shot at goal was very alarming.

we were far better than last week. we have had a very disjointed start to the season, and a lot of the criticism is over the top. We've played 4 games - so all this panic is pathetic, quite frankly. Get a grip.

Feels like I have gone 12 months back in time. Isn't much of this what was said this time last year where had Doncaster won we would have gone bottom? Forget they hype and nonsense from the media and trust in your own opinions and that of the people who really matter when it comes to RFC

At the moment we should be on a level of "concerned" rather than panic.

Panic mode shouldn't click in until at least we're through worried level when we've had more chance to see other oppoenents and not really on the 1st 4/5 games where 3 of the opponents will have been teams that, frankly, half the division aren't on the same planet as let alone budget driven Reading FC in their first season back at this level for 4 years.

After yesterday I have to admit hitting the 'very concerned' level.

Everytime Reading have been promoted there have been players that have been unable to make the step up, Martin Butler a classic example - fantastic until we got promoted then his lack of first touch control was found out against better defenders.

We have been fortunate that most of the players have been able to make the transition in previous post promotion seasons - this time I have a horrible feeling that many (the majority?) will be found wanting.

Think BMs tactics may be exposed as well, as they can be a bit predicable at times.

Hope I am wrong but I feel we are in for a very long hard slog this season.

Why are people wittering on about last season? We didn't have any teams of the quality of Utd, City, Arsenal etc etc to play. You can pretend all you like, but, currently, we're in the shit - we're bottom, we've got to play Newcastle, Swansea away and Liverpool away - if we get 1 point out of those 3 I'd think we'd done well tbh.

And then after that we've got Fulham (H), QPR (A), Villa (A) etc etc.

Wigan have lost 8 games in a row 3 times in their spell in the Premier League and they've still never been relegated. You need 38-40 points to survive most of the time, so that's what 10/11 wins and 5/8 draws over the course of the season?

Look at this run of results....

Chelsea (H) L0-1
Arsenal (H) L0-4
Portsmouth (A) L1-3
Liverpool (A) L 0-2

or how about this...

Newcastle (A) L2-3
Watford (A) D0-0
Blackburn (H) L1-2
Everton (H) L0-2

Both four game stretches during the season we finished in 8th. We need to get out of the Championship mentality where losing 3 games is considered out of the ordinary and poor form. We aren't a top side, we'll be scrapping for points the whole season and we're far more likely to take points from teams who are struggling rather than Spurs, Chelsea or away to an in form West Brom.

When do we start to worry?

by The Royal » 23 Sep 2012 20:08

Given the current form ( albeit only a few games) when do we start to worry? I'm a glass half full kinda guy but I can't see us getting any better. January can't come soon enough if you ask me

I was really optimistic at the start of the season and believed we strengthened well in a few areas, but is is coming apparent we needed to add even more quality.

Nobody in the team has the ability to change games, same with the subs bench.

Best bit of advice I was ever given was not to worry about things that you have little or no influence over.

There are three possible acceptable answers to this.

1) Three and a half months ago.

2) The day after game 10

3) February.

1) we've only played 4 games
2) we have Roberts and kebe out injured
3) were getting accustomed to the prem
4) we've got several new boys who have to gel
5) go to 1

I'm not worried.

11 games in and then I'll start worrying.

Of course, after so few games, the reason why the teams we have lost against are so high in the table is precisely because they have played us :-(
