Lovely hot donuts! If this was one for the future then I wouldn't care but, from OS article, McDermott says: "He's 21 and is a player we feel can play at this level." Bullshit.
He also says: "We're delighted to get him and I know our fans will give him every support in his time here."
Well this forum seems to suggest otherwise!
MaccyB doesn't say when he can play at this level or with who.

I take it you watched youth / reserve games, because he only made one sub appearance for Everton (which wasn't League, L. cup or FA cup), so you can't have had much opportunity to form a reasoned judgement.

Hopefully he'll go straight into the team for the game against the Albion on Saturday.

Look last time we were in the Prem we signed Kebe. It took 4 years or so for him to get the first XI..but we got relegated in style

That's the general consensus I've heard. Many people not renewing if you go down, just pick and chose various games to go to instead.

Didn't McD say about getting the right person with the right personality etc etc - and so far we have a homophobic League 2 player and a bloke from Portugal who has only played 6 minutes so far this season. Cool.
