Fair play to him. His little header was class as was the pass. Like the brief look of him.

Indeed, got our first real shot off, and was traversing the field getting into everything.

Two great assists obviously and another brilliant substitution from McD

Thought he was thinner! Plenty of muscle, plenty of vision, and plenty of time to develop.

Fantastic signing. Truly eaten my words.

Shhh don't left him burn himself out with the praise. Pat on the back - a knowing nod and wink. It will do for now.

Only 21 years old.

As Brian said, you couldn't buy him for 300k tonight.

Really impressed with his cameo tonight. Two great assists (particularly the first) and he seems quite mobile for his size.

Also showed he is willing to put himself about and doesn't have too much respect for reputations, as he displayed by going straight through Lampard shortly after coming on.

Looks's like this Akpan can play, he's mobile, can tackle, can pick a pass and tracks back.

Get's my vote.

Sir Dodger Royal "Akpan Everton didn’t look very assured in midfield position. 1st touch was shocking, his passing was wayward looked off the pace"

With quotes like that he should fit nicely to Reading's midfield. Do doubt Akpan will go down the pan along with the other cheapo signings by McDonet.

Get Real we are getting ready for Division One. Let alone the Championship. Real Facts from the Main Man. You know it makes s enseeeeeeeeeee

Jink I to am disgusted at this signing, we need to sign players that will make us competitive against the likes of Man Utd/Arsenal/Everton etc.... However instead we sign players that can hardly cope with teams like Swindon Town!

Lets just accept relegation now and look forward to visits to the likes of Bristol City!

Scutterbucketz Fukk this signing!

If we don't get in at least 2 players capable of going straight into the team in this window then it will the limpest most laughable attempt at Premier League survival I've ever seen.

I never spoke out negatively about the various signings we've made as I trust the scouting networking here and the hit rate is always fairly positive for "hidden gems" from lower leagues. I always wait to see what happens before casting a judgement - it's human nature to spout out knee-jerk statements. But I can understand where some of the posters come from in terms of feeling underwhelmed after hearing the talk about needing experienced heads. I'm sure they're happy to be proven wrong - but it's still early days and we have only seen a couple of cameos so far from Mr. Akpan. All the signs are positive though - but it's not quite time for 'told you so' comments.

You have to be happy now with the window - it's exciting to see who this final player might be.
