Juventus/Italy formation that would only work if we had a Left Back in the mould of Bertrand, Baines or Shorey 07.
Guthrie would be better in the Pirlo role.

Being reported on Twitter that Carrico will be involved, and we already know Kebe is out.

As written elsewhere I fancy the idea of a 4-4-1-1, with HRK behind ALF.

But those two things are at odds with each other, since I'd imagine Carrico could only be the central, holding midfielder in a 4-5-1. So that presumably means ALF alone up front, in which case I can see us needing to change our name to "Reading NIL"

Would you expect both Carriço and Ledge to be involved?

Who can tell? Assuming we go with 5 in midfield and Carrico is the central holding midfielder I'd expect McAnuff & McLeary/HRK to be the wide players but who the two other contral/attacking players are is anyone's guess. Jem & Guthrie? L'wood & HRK? My feeling is it'd be :

Carrico
McCleary Karacan Guthrie McAnuff

But I'd not be too surprised to see

Carrico
McCleary Karacan McAnuff
L'wood/Guthrie/HRK

The way BMc's switching things around this season there's absolutely no way of predicting who's this week's flavour of the week.

So, with our only threat coming from wingers or set pieces, you want to play without wingers? Interesting idea.

Brian wont drop Leigertwood. Sounds like another excitingly attacking shit-piece of a line-up.

I can see Carrico potentially working alongside Guthrie or Akpan in a 4-4-2. Or alongside Legs, Guthrie or Akpan in a 4-5-1, providing McAnuff, HRK or just maybe Akpan, is at the attacking point of the triangle.

So it'll inevitably be Carrico, Legs and Karacan, with McAnuff upfront on his own and Jimmy Quinn in goal. With Carrico standing around looking lost as Legs slowly ambles around the pitch constantly marked, and Karacan runs around the pitch constantly out of position before giving the ball away by hoofing it if someone actually manages to work out where he is to pass to him.

A team with enough balance, yet the quality on the ball to actually see us through against Villa. I fully expect Leigertwood and McAnuff to start though.

I don't know what's worse, having Taylor in goal or legs in midfield
