Villa (H) Match Thread - Sponsored by "we move on"

by TBM » 09 Mar 2013 13:30

This is one game where we can't afford to "move on" from if we lose....

From what i've heard, the team is:
Reading - Taylor, Kelly, Pearce, Mariappa, Harte; McAnuff (C), Akpan, Leigertwood, HRK; Hunt, Le Fondre.

HRK instead of McCleary??? No wonder he's pissed off not getting enough chances here. Brian McDermott, alienating his playing staff since 2012/13.

It'd be my choice too. McClearey's direct but HRK has more of that much-needed quality.

McCleary is good to bring on and run at the oppo with 20 to go.......i don't think he's a "starter", whereas HRK is more of an all-rounded player

Does anyone else wince a little when they see our starting line-ups?

Should read sponsored by we are oxf*rd desperate to win!!

Not looking forward to hearing the teams.. if Kebe is out I fear the worst. We must win this one. I cannot see any way that we will get to 37 points if we cannot beat villa at home.

Time for Championship prep if we fail to win today. GOT to start WELL.

BBCRB think McCleary may be in. HRK undergoing a fitness test.

Same predictable bullshit as usual. I'll be genuinely amazed if we win this.

So what would you suggest as an alternative?

Get the feeling from BM's press conference on the club website that Kebe will miss out!! Hope I got that wrong!

Players have got to have a go and get the fans behind them. They owe the fans after not turning up against Wigan.

Merson said an easy Villa win - think he's right.

See Wigan reserves winning 3-0 at Everton

TBH, Leigertwood and Akpan as a midfield partnership is ineffective, Hunt isn't good enough, McAnuff hasn't been good enough lately (not to say he's bad, but he must be dropped if Pearce can be dropped for making a mistake) and McDermott's tactics appear to be limited.

----------------Taylor-----------------
Kelly----Pearce----Mariappa----Harte
McAnuff--Guthrie--Caricco--McCleary
-------------------HRK-------------------
----------------le Fondre---------------

Of course, I don't know why Caricco isn't playing, and given the absence of Kebe, McAnuff is our next best option, but we just need a new style. As everyone has said all season, if we kept the ball for periods we'd be under a lot less pressure and I'd bet any money we'd be better at it with a difference style in midfield.

Just my thoughts, and obviously irrelevant to today's game, but I just cannot see any improvement over the defeats to Wigan and Everton if we're doing exactly the same things. Glad Guthrie is back on the bench though.

FA Cup. Who cares? A possible Wembley distraction could benefit us.
