harry Didn't McD scout Kevin Doyle & Shane Long under Coppell?

It worked along the lines of.......

Pat Dolan recommended Doyle to Eamon Dolan who spoke to Brian McDermott as scout who went out to Ireland to meet with Pat and struck the deal re: Doyle, spotted Long and got them to throw him in on the deal before Coppell et al signed it off and sandman took full credit for McDermott at every opportunity.

That's more like it.

Isn't that how being CHIEF SCOUT works :| . He can't scout everyone simultaneously, he's not Sam Beckett.

So, LOL @ McDermott took full credit at every opportunity

Ian that was almost funny, didn't know you had it in you.

Don't know why you're rolling your eyes Mafff, you know full well that he has not taken 'full credit' for it at 'every opportunity' and neither has anyone else.

In fact, everyone involved from McD to Sir Steve to Hammond have acknowledged the part Pat Dolan played. Even with that you know full well that clubs have players recommended to them all the time doesn't mean they see the same thing in the player that the person recommending sees.

Then again you and your itk buddies are well known for making things up.

Extended-Phenotype McD's omni-meLOLtdown at Leeds at the very least confirms we'd be no better off with him than without him, unless of course we were entering a manager in the "who can get sacked the most in a fortnight" competition.

:|

So lets get this right.....McD fails at Leeds amidst ownership f*ck up and he's suddenly a joke. Adkins fails at Reading amidst ownership f*ck up and its "CHRIST GIVE THE MAN A CHANCE HAVEN'T YOU SEEN HIS TRACK RECORD".

Bed-wetting, deluded Reading fans in double-standards shocker :!:

Yep. Beckett leaps into a car-coat wearing scout sat in a dank non league football ground in the south of England. Bas Savage trips over the ball Beckett sighs "oh boy" as Nick(y) Hammond's name flashes up on the mobile phone Sam is holding.

Sexy, intelligent Reading fan in single-standard comment we've become accustomed to

No, you got it wrong, so I corrected it for you.

The rest of the episode is a fragmented monogue performed by a disembodied pair of lips in the dark.

Well he is gone and here we must remain...

Will Nigel, when he departs, (and I neither will it nor portend) get a thread this enduring?

No. Adkins hasn't really achieved anything. The injury list, lack of investment and backroom shenanigans make it difficult to assess how much of that is his fault. I think he could have done better/more. But would stop short of calling for his head due to the uncertainty.

Kinda depends on how long he stays and what he achieves in the time between now and then, don't you think?

He could be manager for 10 years and take us into European football. The odds are against it, but we've no idea what he might achieve before leaving.

I think it was a fairer summary with the other sentences included.

Without the benefit of hindsight the decision was correct. Given we know what we know now I believe the decision was wrong.
