After years of searching, it appears we have finally found the "MASSIVE WARCHEST" that went missing during our last season in the Prem.

I disagree - think we'll start spending. The success BMc had with cheap signings gave Anton the false belief that it was possible to run a football club as 'a business'; think that illusion has been shattered now.

If were still going with the Reading Way we wont spend anything, but sell but if Anton really has the ambition to get us up hes going to have to spend.

I would like Pog to stay because i think he would be awesome in the Chump and it would show that we don't need to get rid of players

If the parachute payment is £23 mill and if we use say £20mill of that, then half I imagine will go on the higher wages from the prem, even after losing Pog, leaving us with maybe £10mill to spend on players and wages, so perhaps 2-3 signings at £1-3mill or so?

To anyone who thinks I'm talking BS and am pulling this figure out of my rectum you are completely right. Completely guessing but it's a pop at least!

What if we stay in the premier league, but have no budget in the summer? :D

Nobody on here will have any idea at all I'm afraid- let the completely uninformed speculation begin!

I would have thought "0" would be optimistic.

In other words last time we went down we sold players for a lot of money and had a deficit player budget (i.e. made a profit on sales).

I suspect this time the likes of Pog will move on and possibly Fed/Kebe and one or two others. If the proceeds are reinvested that should be enough at Championship level.

What I think is noticeable is that nearly every other Club in the Prem seemed to be well placed in picking up quality overseas stars Michu,Kone,Bentekie, Ba, Sissoko and so on (even the likes of Swansea and Wigan) and yet with the exception of Carrico (which appears to have been a big mistake-he must be match fit by now-for Pete's sake !)we just shopped around in the lower leagues -Blackman/Akpang and Prem rejects-Kelly/Guthrie etc.
Why is that ?

We basically need to spend all the Sky money on new players.

Or none of it.

I can't work out which.

tbf thats what being a (more) established prem team allows you to do.
most 1st time prem teams do it like we do.
it was very succesful the couple of years previous to this.

Even allowing for likely departures we will have a much stronger squad than when we won the division but we will have a few gaps that need filling. A few quality additions would be good.

Even if the transfer budget is small a new manager will have lots of cash to play with. Assume we sell Guthrie, Feds and Pog and let the likes of Church, Hunt, Tabb, Harte go. Then we will have a huge saving in wages and a bit of cash to splash even without parachute payments etc. And we'd still have a decent champ squad.

We will operate under exactly the same principle as always. Identify areas to improve. Scout players to fill them. If the right player can be found at a reasonable price for our rating of them, we'll make the funds available to sign them.

We'll have an upper limit on individual wages, that may have a little flexibility for an outstanding case and we'll have an overall wage budget to try and stick to.

There won't be any blank cheques for £XX million for the manager to just go and blow on any player(s) he can find.

...can see a major rebuild on the cards with McCarthy, Cummings,Kelly, Morrison, Marriapa, Guthrie,Akpan, Le Fondre, Blackman,HRK, McLeary staying and the remainder poss on way out........

**Kebes injury record could count against him and *assuming Pearce will leave at end of contract

I'm never been sure of HRK. Occasionally brilliant, mostly sub standard. He needs to improve average performances substantially to warrant regular first team football.
