Pogs Future

by SPARTA » 04 May 2013 18:25

Dellor believes Pog told a Russian journo that he wants to stay in England and would be happy to play in the Championship.

I can't see that. I think he'll be one of the first out of the door.

If he's on the deal the papers claimed he is (50k ish) and it was AZ who did the deal, not NH, then he may well be happy for at least one season to pick up a pay check he wont get anywhere else.

I think he's playing it safe if he's said that, as he knows he's been bitterly disappointing this season and hasn't lived up to the hype he produced when he played for Fulham. That being said, there's bound to be a prem team who can see him fitting in.

Even if AZ did the deal there will surely be a relegation clause.

I think it's highly doubtful that Anton turned up at Pog's house, got him to sign a contract he'd written, and then gave it to Hammond to file. I find it very hard to believe that Hammond wasn't involved in the contract. Anton may have chipped in with a lot of persuasion, but I can't see it being more than that.

Given Adkins has been trying to assess who he wants and who he doesnt want and keeps playing the Pog I can only assume that i) he wants him and ii) thinks he can keep him

I'd rather keep ALF. Much better movement. Quite similar to Lambert.

While Pog may be the better all round player, ALF is more than good enough for the Champ. ALF on ~£20k a week >>> Pog on £50k

I believe he is under contract for at least next season. If he goes, we get a transfer fee and that also presents a nice gap in the playing budget that could be filled elsewhere. If he stays, he should have the quality to be good for 20+ goals next season. I see it as a win win.

As likely as it is that Pog has a release clause of some kind written into his contract, i'd suspect that the club had a relegation wage drop included too.

The players have clearly underperformed this season. Why are they not getting the sack?

Could that be a litte bit counter-productive?

Because it's been shown that given the right management, they can actually play quite well.

Thanks for clarifying that. If he stays, he stays. If he leaves, we get some money in. EOT!

We should cash in on him ASAP if he has 4 years left. I bet we could sell him for silly money.

Akins also said he reckons Roberts can be a force again next season. And remember how good he was in the Championship. He wins a lot of fouls and holds the ball up a lot better than Pogrebnyak.
