I'd like:
-------------McCarthy
Gunter Morrison Mariappa Bridge
--------Williams Guthrie (c)
----McCleary Akpan Drenthe
------------Pogrebnyak.

or

-------------McCarthy
Gunter Morrison Mariappa Bridge
--------------Guthrie (c)
--------Williams--Karacan
--McCleary------------Drenthe
------------Pogrebnyak.

When not banned switch Pogrebnyak with Blackman. HRK, Jobi and Obita pushing for first team, plenty of rotation between them during the season. Taylor pushing Akpan. ALF bench.

I expect:
-------------McCarthy
---Kelly Morrison Pearce Bridge
--------Karacan Guthrie
----Drenthe Jobi (c) McCleary
------------Le Fondre.

Switch in HRK if fit for McCleary and push Jobi to the left.

Bench: Federici, Mariappa, Karacan, Taylor, Obita, Robson-Kanu, Pogrebnyak

Feels harsh on Samuel [injured anyway?], maybe he [or Chizogie] can displace Pog during the season for a bench place. Blackman misses (banned)

FOOTBALL - DONE DEAL
Championship side Doncaster Rovers sign South Africa captain Bongani Khumalo, 26, on a season-long loan deal from Tottenham Hotspur.

Good luck with that one !!!

Who I would like to see is
--------------McCarthy---------------
Kelly---Mariappa---Pearce---Bridge
------Guthrie--------Williams-------
----McCleary----HRK----Drenthe----
------------------POG-----------------

Now as a first time traveling fan for the game ahead where is the best place to drink before and after the match? (the first time going to the MadStad is down to my finally having an income of the disposable sort)

SouthSmallRoyal Whoever Adkins picks he's going to make at least a couple of players VERY unhappy, and we need to bear that in mind on Saturday when the we see the team he's picked. On another note, I'd like to see Samuel and Obita involved at least once this season!

Not necessarily. We've got at least 48 games to play this season, possibly more. There's plenty of football for a squad of 25-28 players.

What I meant was on Saturday, but you're right as well

Not so sure - Adkins apparently places a lot of importance on the keepers ability to pass, not just rolling the ball out, but knocking it long and accurately.

McCarthy might just have the edge between the sticks, but it's a pretty narrow margin and Feds is much the better kicker. Having seen McCarthy throw the ball straight to one of the Swansea strikers last weekend, I've just got a gut feeling a few people could be up in arms when Feds starts.....

Is this just a hunch or based on some form of inside knowledge? I agree distribution is the weakest part of McCarthy's game (certainly kicking) but I'd still definitely go with McCarthy myself.

I'd like for Saturday:

McCarthy

Gunter
Bridge
Morrision
Mariappa

Williams (if fit)
Guthrie
Robson-Kanu (right)
Drenthe (left)
McAnuff (attacking)

Pogrebnyak

Subs: Taylor, Pearce, Karacan, Akpan, McCleary, Obita, Le Fondre

If Williams is injured start Karacan and put Kelly on the bench.

I'd have thought McCarthy, Bridge, Guthrie, McAnuff and Drenthe would be the likely/near certain starters. Question marks about most of the other positions really.

It's a hunch based on a couple of things Adkins said at the Fans Forum last night - I won't quote what he said, but reading between the lines, it wouldn't surprise me at all if Feds starts Saturday....

Gunter
Bridge
Morrison
Mariappa

Williams
Guthrie
Hal (left)
Drenthe (AM)
McCleary (right)

Pogrebnyak

Subs: Taylor, Pearce, Karacan, Akpan, Jobi, Kelly, Le Fondre

If Williams not fit replace with Karacan and bring Obita to the bench, If feds fit swap out Taylor

Thanks - I thought it might be fans forum based!

We'll have to see. I think it should go to McCarthy unless of course there's reason to believe his departure will be imminent.

I wouldn't be particularly surprised if Federici gets the nod. It's not like he's shit and its not like McCarthy has excelled in pre-season.

Wouldn't stop me being disappointed though.

I've got a feeling Blackman is going to smash it this season. I always thought he looked promising at the back end of the season. Just needed to improve his finishing and confidence in front of goal.
