From Despair To Where? I cant see us getting rid of the academy, Not when Richards, Osho, McIntyre, Rinomhota and Olise (you could possibly add Meite to that list) are looking to be key first team squad members and others like Southwood are on the fringe.

Was Meite ever part of the Academy ? Don’t think playing a few u33 games is at all the same as being any Academy product.
I’d have mentioned the Lijes of Stacey and Tishbola who have generated several million pounds in revenue, which is just as much what there Academy is there for as producing first team players.

The main driver for moving to Bearwood was to sustain the academy, so we won’t be scrapping it any time soon.

The natural evolution of Reading FC has seen it outgrow its Hogwood Park home and with the club’s ongoing investment in the Premier League’s Elite Player Performance Plan (EPPP) structure for elite Academies, new training facilities are necessary to sustain Category One Academy status and meet the growing everyday demands of a progressive football club.

The site at Bearwood Estate was identified and contracts were initially exchanged with the Royal Merchant Navy School Foundation for the purchase of nearly 120 acres of land on Friday 11th October 2013.

The Bearwood facility will be the new home to our first team, young professionals, Academy players from the ages of 8 to 18, our coaching staff and management team as well as a large proportion of the club’s permanent staff.

The club does not own it, do they? We can't sell something that is not ours.

Of course you can. I reckon we could get it past the accountants. Flog it every year for £20 million and FFP just goes away !

I suppose another way would be for MR. Di to sell Bearwood back to the club for say £1, then he buys it again for £20million. If the EFL does not notice we could repeat the process next year, perhaps even include the stadium in the £1

Or sell all the players to the Chinese club is May then give them free transfers in August and resign them here.
I literally cannot see why this would not work !

U23s playing Orient this afternoon, good to see were still keeping contact with Jobi :D

Assumer it'll be southwood, Holmes, east, holsgrove, Smith plus the likes of dorsett, Nevers, lawless.

Wonder if they're after a skillful right footed, left winger on loan?

Not too sure, but read a couple of reports that we lacked any creativity and looked ill disciplined.

Not sure Orient will want to take any of our lot on loan after all

Dunno, but they should be sacked on the back of that performance.
