very impressive to be doing that well in the U23 as well as raiding a lot of the players for the first 11

Maybe Leeds even more, as they only became CAT 1 this season, so it`s their 1st season in the PL 2

And vice versa some clubs that have along history of producing lots of talent from their academies seem to be not quite as strong at the moment.

I suppose one would also have to factor in how many players these U 23 teams have out on loan to other league/non league clubs to give them experience - ie the more successful the Academy is= the more their players are in demand from other clubs to use them ?

But assuming they have a good conveyor belt there would be more good/ wellcoached youngsters coming along. You would expect the really top academies to factor in players having time out on loan as part of their development path.
It would be interesting to know how clubs plan the progression of their players through the whole system
I’m out of touch with our youngsters but my impression is we have a lot of good players in the u23 set up at a younger age than we did a few years back.

It would also be interesting to know the average age of the players in the U 23 teams over recent seasons, as i sense that the U23 teams are including more u 18 players than maybe they used to do. It also appears to be that 1st team squad players who are aged U 23 do not necessarily play for the U 23`s at a lot of clubs.

Leeds 1 Royals 0 43 mins
2-0 44 mins
HT 2-0 superb stream- for 40 mins we were good value at being level, but it all went pear shaped with the 2 quick fire goals.
3-0 52 mins- bad Boyce- Clarke error
FT 3-0 That`s almost wrapped up promotion to Div 1 for Leeds. Reading need to finish in top 5 for the play-offs - with 2nd or 3rd ensuring a home tie.

Stream and commentary very good but Reading soft and flabby. Both fullbacks Watson and Bristow roasted and not much upfront. Switched off at HT, doesn’t seem to have got any better second half.

Yes commentator i agree was good. The match reminded me of the away match at Palace where we lost 6-0. We looked ok for most of that match but let in 6 goals. Even the Palace commentary team said how good we were that day. Today for the 1st 10 minutes in the 2nd half we could have scored 2 but the stupid 3rd goal finished that impetus.
