Snowflake Royal I'm still bitter about Tanner, Dickie, Hyam, Novakovich and Stacey.

We do alright, but we could do a lot better given the potentials we've had.

We bring in an awful lot of mediocre squad fillers when we could give Academy lads 5-10 appearances instead.

Apart from Stacey none of those guys have amounted to anything. No one can stop talking about Novakovich but he's in Serie B without a goal in 9 games.

Don't understand the hype about Loader, can't get into a mediocre championship side and is making a fuss about wanting a move. Says more about the decline of Man Utd if they really are sniffing around.

Dickie and Hyam are 23 and are playing for promotion-chasing clubs in League One. Writing them off is silly.

Craig Tanner had 6 in 26 for Motherwell which is comparable to Gylfi at Everton (except obviously for the level of the club, just saying it's a good return for an attacking midfielder). He then had a freak knee injury that seems to have effectively ended his career, been out for 18 months, turned down a sympathy contract from Motherwell in search of regular football and hasn't been able to convince anyone to take him on. A slightly less extreme version of Aaron Kuhl.

In all three cases it's entirely reasonable to think that if things out of their control had gone a little differently then they could have made it here.

And I would personally put Cooper, Kelly, McCarthy and Fosu to the list given the relativity low fees they moved on for compared to their actual value.

Kelly's position had become untenable and his attitude was questionable, so I can live with him.

Never particularly rated Fosu and he didn't do a lot on loan iirc so ok with that.

McCarthy should have been ahead of Fed but I think wanted away and his head has sometimes not seemed in football.

Cooper was a bit of an error admittedly.

Still though. They were sold lower than they could have been.

What happened with Tanner here? Pretty sure he scored in the last pre season friendly against Bournemouth in Stam season one but never played after that? Thought he always looked pretty sharp in his brief spell here

But they didn't and you still don't know whether they will prove themselves at this level. Sometimes its better for players to leave a club and go get 100 games in the lower league to develop than it is play 10-15 times a season at a higher level. It's unfortunate but that's how it goes. Plenty of players get 10-15 games at a higher level, never enough game time to develop them, then they end up drifting out the league not good enough for league one or two. There is no perfect formula.

IIRC, he had 2 years on loan at Plymouth, was a regular for them in League 2 but struggled to get starts ahead of Graham Carey (who now plays for CSKA Sofia) in League 1.

I get the feeling he was a bit like Loader is now, not really clear what his best position is and didn't excel enough at one to nail down a place.

Ben House made his debut on loan for Dagenham at the weekend and promptly scored twice as our North Hampshire neighbours were turned over 6-1

Reading U18`s play their last league cup group B match tomorrow with a long away trip to Middlesborough KO 1pm. All 4 teams in the group have 3 points( 1 win 1 loss) after the 2 matches played so far and all 4 teams have the same GD 0, therefore it`s all to play for with the 6 group winners and the 2 best 2nd placed teams progressing to the QF`s.

What is the point in them playing at the Madejski if they're going to go and schedule it for 3pm on a Thursday?

I guess it's very marginally better than Adams Park at 3pm on a Thursday, but still. This bloody club.

Think it`s because it`s the group games of the cup- they wouldn`t do it for a league game. The 1st of the group games against Colchester which was also 3pm at the Madejski stadium on a Monday was streamed live on you tube, and i expect the same on Thursday.
