Cypry In fairness to TSI they have never promised to inject large sums of cash into the club - quite the opposite, we've been told since day 1 that prudence would prevail.

So what was the point of them? We were better off with Madejski.

We wouldn't have a Cat 1 Academy, or have had last season in the Prem, or had Drenthe or Bridge at the club now with JM in charge still....
We're now better off than we were when TSI took over so not sure where your arguement comes from !

We'd have sold Le Fondre and McCarthy this window to cut the cloth.

Do I really have to bring up the comparisons to this window and 08/09 again?

Yeah - in that window we had strikers that other teams actually wanted, bought under SJM; in this one we had the Pog, bought under (directly by??) AZ

Cypry The problem is, most, if not all players of the standard we're looking at would choose the Premier League over the Championship at the drop of a hat. So all a PL side needs to do is match th offer we make, and we will lose out, and with the new TV deal, they can afford to do that in spades. The new TV money makes this Summers window completely unprecedented in terms of the gulf in spending ability between the PL and Championshop. I find it completely unsurprising that we have struggled to attract the RIGHT players...
.

I think this is the difference this time, the extra cash the prem sides get make it pretty well impossible for any player to turn down being 3rd or 4th choice for a prem team compared to first choice in the championship.

Let's hope this new financial model leads to prem clubs subsidising wages in loan deals a bit more, then we'd have a chance of getting a decent striker.

I don't really understand the critisism of Adkins his record in management speaks for itself in all honesty, but to achieve his goals he will need the support of the clubs management, on this occasion that would seem to be missing, although, in reality, that should not be surprising.

He sounds like he feels he has been let down in this window, his boast of three new players must have been supported, at least initially by Anton and Hammond. We heard the same old same old about "we were not in a position to add anyone" why not is the answer most want to hear.

It can't be anything to do with money, after all last January we were ready to splash £10m on Sigs, since then we have only spent £700,000 on Williams and recieved our Premiership finishing money and the parachute payments plus TV money. So where is the block on transfers now ?? One can only assume that the Cat 1 Academy money was already budgeted for and it surly wasn't Sigs or Cat 1, was it ??

We can't score and leek goals, is this what we were promised ? 7 signings in the close season was never going to happen I guess, but at least it sold a few season tickets. I can understand Adkins frustration, I just wonder what he was expecting with Reading's record in the transfer market over the past three or four years.

The three teams that got promoted have all made substantial investment in an attempt to stay in the top league, something that we would never do, is this the case that we are going to have to accept that if we want to become involved in the european competitions that Anton wishes then we are going to have to change the way we operate, or of course we could be waiting for the FA Cup third round to pillage some players from our lower league opposition.

Why? Spurs confirmed we'd bid and the deal had been close.

That Ian is how I understood the Sigs issue, the big problem here though is the pre-window closing outputs from the club, Anton and his 7 siginings, Adkins 3 before the window closes, these arnt qoutes from some random "transfer rumours" site, these are statements reported directly from the horses mouth, our PR towards the fans is amazing in it's bullshit, even more this close season than we have previously been used to.

I think Adkins just said what most of us think..................maybe his way of telling Hammond to get a bloody move on and sign someone that we need instead of wasting his time on an injury prone "big name" that we can do without.
