AkpansBFF How did Pog and hrk look as a partnership? And Guthrie and Baird our best partnership or Karacan/Williams a better option than Baird?

Pog and HRK weren't a partnership. The formation was (IMO):

................McCarthy
..Gunter, Morrison, Pearce, Kelly
........Baird, Guthrie, Obita
McCleary...........................HRK
...................Pog

Although Obita perhaps got forward a little more. I think Guthrie, Baird and either Karacan or Williams is a very very good midfield to have. Baird and Williams possibly best suited to a central pair, but it's very hard to say this early and without seeing it tried. And we'd lose our heartbeat that way.

Not a chance we'll be dropping Guthrie unless injury. We've spent months getting used to the formation/tactic and as you say Guthire is the heartbeat of that.
I think even if Guthrie were to miss out through injury, then Tshibola would be his logical replacement anyway.

Don't disagree other than it would be a hell of a lot to ask of Tshibola to come in and perform there from the start regularly.

I reckon Baird vs Karacan is a similar comparison to Kelly vs Gunter.
Arguably Baird and Kelly may be the more defensively solid players, but Karacan and Gunter are stamina engines that will keep going right till the end and likely give you more in attack.

It's possible that Karacan's injury may keep Gunter in the team. I think we'd look a bit depleted without both our runners.

Cheers lads, at home pog and hrk upfront or do you think we will stick with pog up top hrk on the wing?

LUX Hope you had a good day out Green.

Anyone we'd know in that photo?

Not one of mine, googled it. It is pretty representative of the kind of "character" in there though.

And yeh it was no Wembley / Bree Louise but I had a good one. Derby actually seems quite nice :?

I would be surprised if HRK was favoured upfront ahead of ALF in a partnership.

I think we'll see either one up or more of what we saw against Watford and Brighton with a sort of 4-3-3. Pog central, ALF drifting between central and wide as needed defensively and HRK / Blackman / McCleary filling out the other wide forward slot. It leaves us a bit narrow at times. I thought it worked best against Watford where Jobi could also drift wide from the midfield three. But we did fall apart a bit second half.

Sharp could be a bit of a game changer there though.

They didn't really perform last season though when played together?

+1 for the Derby seems a nice place gang (although I did only go from the station to the Brunswick to the ground and back, that bit was lovely)

kwik-silva I thought Baird yesterday was solid but nothing special. Akpan did just as well when he came on.That said, with some more game time, and more than just a day to bed in, I think he'll be stellar for us.

What he did himself was merely solid, but he was clearly having a marked positive effect on the players around him.

If hell really does turn out to be Derby then see you all back in the Brunswick, posthumously.

Maybe in the hell version there's piped music and no real ale.
