Damned if he feels under pressure - clearly the strain has got to him and he wants results to go his way

Damned if he doesn't feel under pressure - smug permatanned git who doesn't give a toss

I'm happy he feels the pressure!

Did you go today?

No, I join the many who are driven away from this football club by Adkins.

Making your username either Ironic or just a big fib. Maybe if you'd have witnessed some of the dross we played under Tommy Burns (RIP) or Terry 'The Taxi' Bullivant, you might not be so hasty.

Dross at a Lower level over 10 years ago doesn't mean that you can't comment on the dross being served up now.

You could say that given the higher quality of the players available now that what's being served up is worse.

Exactly. Watching that lot was awful. Do you remember Bristol Rovers thrashing us at home!! We were so SHIT that we could not even win our last game at Elm Park. That was shameful! I think and hope that we are just going through a painful period of transition. What NA is trying to do I applaud I certainly do not wish to see a return to lumping it. Modern football is about possession and crisp fast passing. At the moment we are not playing with any tempo and therefore chances are not created. NA needs time to change the club around. Get out the dead wood and bring in his players. However, there is NO excuse for not getting shots on target. That must be addressed.

Any fool can see that what he is admirably trying to do, just isn't working with the players he currently has available, therefore, he should ditch the pretty stuff and just play the game according to the strengths of the players he's currently lumbered with. If he spends this window, buy players who will easily fit into his style of play. But pretending nothing is wrong, when it patently is, is just trying to take us all for mugs imo. We've played some atrocious football and NA shouldn't be afraid to agree with that. What he needs to do is have an idea of where it's going wrong and put it right. Maybe he's complicating things for a lot of the players - Guthrie wants to play Adkins' way but seems to me he's held back by others not understanding (or able to do) what he wants them to do.

MmmMonsterMunch As long as we get enough points to stay up, I will continue to trust Adkins' judgement.

So now - despite a budget that more than half the teams in this division would kill for and despite the advantage of parachute payments - Adkinistas are now trying to convince us that just staying up this season is somehow good enough.

Trouble is, all the players who were key in us doing well playing long ball are all also injured or aren't here any more - Leigertwood, Karacan, Roberts, Kebe, Long. It's not a case of even being able to revert back to that - we need a clearout and to bring in players capable of playing an intelligent passing game and Adkins needs backing by both the board and fans to do this.

He DOES need backing by the board and the fans, but if he isn't backed by the board he need to adjust his tactics because we clearly don't have the players that he needs to play his way.

My point is he doesn't have the players do play either way so there's no point in trying long ball.

You make the key point. It is all very well having principles and a way to play but if you don't have players who can do this you have to be pragmatic and get the best out of the group you have. It all depends on whether the powers that be at the club (whoever they are) are prepared to write this season off or want a promotion push. If happy to write it off then I suppose he can carry on as he is but attendances will fall and we will spin into decline and end up lower mid table or worse. Or else he has to put principles to one side and play a faster pressing game for now and at least try to make the play offs - we are only a point away after all so there is a lot to play for.

This will be his last season with us anyway. If we don't go up there will be a fire sale and he will be left with shit - unless a miracle happens and new investors come in.

No way he will stay.

Funny how you described two reasons he would stay and then said no way he will stay.
