So once again Madejski fed the fans a load of shyte about funding just a few weeks ago. And before his fan club leap to defend him, he didn't have to say anything, was given a chance to backtrack during the interview and still didn't make the statement conditional.

Why the f8ck do some still think the man can do/does no wrong?!

I have been saying it for years. How many times has he come out with utter bollocks yet his lackeys crawl as far up his arse as possible?

He has his flaws there is no doubt about that but he has done a lot more good than bad for RFC.

There are still a few hours to go yet, but I think that the chances of us getting anyone in is pretty unlikely, but on the up side it would appear that no one will be leaving, pity we couldn't convince anyone that Roysten waste of space is worth taking a punt on. Thanks to Anton, Sir John, Adniks and Hammond have been put in an difficult position, thanks Anton !

Sir John will oversee this transfer window with the prudence that he has been renown for and wont be drawn into any knee jerk reaction signings, so it will be left to Adkins to maintain the spirit and effort we have seen over recent games, and the fans, its time for people to stop throwing endless critisisms at him and give him their support and back him to get us at least into the top six and play-offs.

The key point young'uns'll do well to remember is that the Mad Man saved RFC.... well, OK, Roger Smee might have, as well, but SJM has stood by RFC through thick and thin and had a 'vision' for the club.

He might have used it as a vehicle for his own ego viz The Mad House etc, and he may have become a bit of a bumbling old soak, but he's shown remarkable loyalty when it probably would have been much easier for him to jack it all in.

He doesn't owe us, the fans, anything. On the contrary, we owe him a great debt of gratitude.

If SJM was even remotely media savvy, then the perception of him might be somewhat different.

Rather have JM in charge than most. We have no money what are the club supposed to use to buy players? We have a massive wage bill, with at least three good earners on the ong term injured list.

I know why not ask ST holders to stump us a bit extra to buy a few, or would that be wrong?

But that's the point, MeMeMe... (who the oxf*rd are you anyway?), I don't think SJM is clever enough to have intentionally fed the fans bullshit... he probably genuinely believed that a deal would be done sooner rather than later. It hasn't and, frankly, so what?

We do have a good squad, we can probably make the play-offs, would any investment now really secure top two.... unlikely.

And SJM owns 48/9 percent which, with an absent owner, I reckon gives his just about as much right as he wants to do what he wants. If you don't like it, go and watch Didcot Town.

TBF he may have thought the ongoing takeover negotiations were almost done, and so was trying to be upbeat? Maybe things hit a minor snag and haven't been finalised as quickly as he had hoped?

Just saying.

And of course, lets not forget that we have actually made a bid for a player (who hasn't moved yet). Oh, but for people who's agenda that doesn't fit it's obviously just a massive prank, to placate the fans and we had no intention of signing the player. Despite the fact we didn't make the bid public and haven't spoken about it.

And even if Madejski intended to raise funds and then didn't. We're sixth, in a re-build, waiting a takeover and seem to be keeping all our best players. So who, with a functioning sense of perspective, gives an actual toss?

Didn't he say funds would be available and not that we would definitely buy anyone?

Also, couldn't someone have just resurrected an old deadline day thread? I'm sure the usual suspects will be crying about the same stuff on all of those?

I wonder if the bid from the US group buggered everything. I reckon the club reckoned the Omani deal would be all but done and dusted when SJM spoke to Dellor, then, the next week we got reports of a bid from the US... everything went up in the air again, and the deal didn't get done, hence the transfer kitty didn't transpire....
