The Jobi McAnuff tribute thread

by Pepe the Horseman » 06 May 2014 18:02

Sad news that Jobi's being released. A better captain and player than Murty, yet always got a lot of stick from a section of our fans.

My fav moments include:

That goal at Cardiff.
Nearly scoring the greatest FA Cup goal of all time at Anfield.
Calling Handbags Harris a oxf*rd.

One of our best players from the post-Coppell era. Sad times.

Have to agree with you. Underrated by many but I can only assume they know Fcuk all.
Real trier, great captain and we are worse off without him.
Will please a lot of the asshole haters who never appreciated him unfortunately.

Players leave all the time, but for me Jobi should have been offered another contract. Guess all the haters will be happy....I'm not!!!! Thanks Jobi, no matter what people say you have been immense. And if anyone can come up with whom is going to take over from him from the current crop good luck.....

Club legend IMHO.

Loved this goal, just a proper GTFI moment

Deserves a lot more respect than a lot of Reading fans have ever given him. Wish him all the best.

He's been a good loyal servant, hard working and great captain.

Unfortunately he's a few years past his expiry date. For a winger, I would expect him to get more goals and he was never good enough for the Premiership. But he took us there and for that he will always be a hero :!:

Wow - kind of expected it but all of a sudden I feel extremely sad. :(

Probably my favourite RFC player since Murty. Best of luck to him for the future. I'm sure he'll have no trouble finding another decent championship club.

Gutted to see him leave - really thought that he had at least another season in him!

Always remember him for this:

Sad to see him go. Fantastic player and an even better captain. Always the model pro and took a hell of a lot of shit from the fans at times.

...can't see this reaching more than 5 pages.

My favourite moment was that time he didn't hit the first man with a cross.

Great bloke though, by all accounts.

Yep, the only goal in that game I dared celebrate properly.

Legend. Probably the best left winger at the club since I've been watching. Great attitude. Calm, dignified and always put a shift in, even when it wasn't going his way.

Good luck Jobi, you deserve to wow more Chumpionship fans yet. Glad you got your day in the PL with us and certainly didn't show yourself up.

One of the best things about this thread is it's easier to spot clear mongs

As I've said elsewhere very disappointed we couldn't find a new deal for a Jobi, thanks for the memories chap

Definite club legend. The best thing Rodgers did for this club was bringing him in. On his day almost unplayable, and always gave his all even on the days when he couldn't beat an egg.

Think it's the right time to let him go so as to not sour the good memories with his inevitable regression as a player over the next 12 months, but we certainly won't be able to replace him.

Not wholly unexpected the release of Jobi, all the same a sad time, a very talented player and honourable captain and ambassador for the club, he has been outstanding throughout his time here, thanks Jobi, all the very best in which ever way your career takes you now.

Jobi always put maximum effort in to every game and this is really all I ever want from our players. I can't abide passengers in the team who swan about, going through the motions.

Thanks for everything you have done for the club Jobi and good luck with what ever comes next for you.

This is such a parallel to the season after we failed in the play offs in our first season from relegation. Murts, etc all getting released. Im sad as oxf**d to see jobi go. Although he constantly cut inside and tried but blasted over a finesse shot, frustratingly, he is still a model professional and the type of player you think of when you think of a Reading player. Wish him the best.

For fck sake Reading Jobi has still got it.

One of my favourite every Reading players, clueless oxf*rd have directed vitriol at him for a few seasons now without seeing what he brings to the team and how much he cares. Goal away at Cardiff was glorious.

Fook

Sad to see him go. I hoped that there would be enough dosh to offer him another year - but things are obviously bad financially - so I think this was inevitable.

Good luck Jobi - wherever you end up. I think a lot of Championship clubs will want to snap him up on a free.
