Watershed.

by quickwingerswife » 01 Nov 2014 18:43

My husband, a scout for a good side, watched Rotherham last weekend at Brighton and they gave some massive problems with their lump up front, so next Tuesday is no foregone conclusion. Charlton next Saturday have proved they are no pushovers , but the pundits are forecasting an easy week for Reading to get some points on the board. If it doesn't happen and Adder persists with the Robotic football, are the Thais going to come down hard and kick him out? He's sending out notes to the players during vital passages in the game, jumping up and down to the cameras on the touchline, picking a questionable side and looking a complete prat to all. Is this the watershed week? Realism check, 3-1 defeat today in front of 1,000 travelling supporters, how many more times?

Was thinking the same thing. The results are going backwards.

We had this with Brendan. Clearly Brendan is a good manager provided he has he players capable of winning games in the style he wants.

Adkins aspires to the same but the strengths of our team don't appear to gel with Adkins game plan and aspirational style.

Brian took over from Brendan and got the team playing a more basic brand of football that they could do well. This bred confidence which resulted in success on the pitch.

The defence is woeful and needs urgent shoring up. Emergency loan springs to mind because it is a f***ing emergency.

Hard tackling midfielders winning the ball and getting out to pacey wingers with a big striker and supporting "fox in the box".

Adkins says he wants to build a brand of football that will thrive in the Premier League. I think he should concentrate on thriving in the Championship because we won't be anywhere near the Premier League until we see some changes to the strategy.

Federici can kick a ball a long way with reasonable accuracy.

I suggest quick release from Feds into either channel. McLeary, Mackie or Obita are all capable of beating a defender and putting in a cross aimed at Murray who can either attack or knock down for Cox to shoot.

So our strengths are probably to counter attack quickly.

Basic 442 football I think is what this lot can do well but Adkins wants 50 passes before we got over the halfway line because it works for Arsenal and Barcelona.
