Would you take relegation to League 1 if it meant Reading reached the FA Cup Final?

FA Cup vs Relegation

What would you prefer :?:

FTR - the option is for an FA Cup Final appearance, with no guarantee on the outcome and/or opposition.

I'd take an FA Cup. We'd bounce back to the Championship in a season or two with our infrastructure.

European Football, trips to Oldham, Leyton Orient, Fleetwood > the Championship.

Having watched over 30 years of lower league football, I for one would not want to go back, shiny thing on the mantelpiece or not.

A club who still probably draws bigger crowds than us, home and away, and is one of the best away days on the calender.

Plus they ran amok through Newport the other week 8)

Definitely, stuff of dreams and some cracking grounds in league one yet to be ticked off for me.

Also, an FA cup final appearance would add to our illustrious history

I said the same thing to my mates the other day.

I would definitely take this.

An FA Cup final appearance for a club like us is a once in a lifetime thing.

Alos as someone said, with our infrastructure we should get out of League One within a couple of years.

I'd probably take a semi final over staying up tbh

Why yes????? So we get to a final and lose, and get relegated....what's the point apart from a little money.
Seriously people would rather we got relegated??? Madness......

I'd rather a cup run providing some excitement, optimism, a trip to Wembley and the extra income even if it meant relegation to league 1

Vs

Barely surviving in the championship no extra income and more monotony week in week out with zero chance of challenging for the playoffs anytime soon....

In 100 years time an FA Cup win will be remembered whereas whether we were managed to stay up or went down be forgotten.

Personally, If we were in line for an FA Cup Final appearance I think that would energise the players and make them fight tooth and nail on the pitch to secure a place in the starting line-up at Wembley.

Also, Cup form under McDermott and Coppell actually helped our league form.

For me it's win-win

Get the day out (x2) at Wembley, plus a chance of winning one of the world's most illustrious trophies

Would also give us a genuine shot at playing competitive European football, rather than some tinpot friendly against Feyenoord

Plus the added bonus of many, many gr8 days out in League 1

I literally can't understand why anyone would rather stay in the Chumpionship and get knocked out at the 5th Round?

I'd love to see Reading in a cup final but relegation to League 1 would set us back so much, not to mention still having to put up with high earners on even less income, not that I think for a second we'll be relegated even if we somehow make it to the final.

We have one of the best youth setups in the country - out of adversity comes opportunity

That's the only positive I could see out of relegation, more chance to blood the youngsters and they would be competitive at League One level, but we'd never be able to afford a Category 1 set up in League One either.
