CONFIMRED - Jem to Gala

by Pepe the Horseman » 16 Jun 2015 07:51

Reports from Turkey saying that Jem's agreed a deal with Galatasaray. He tweeted last week about being in Istanbul, and has since deleted the tweet, so recks this has got legs.

No where near good enough for them. Lots of hustle and bustle but very average otherwise.

Would be a great move for him if it happens, and a real challenge.
Hope they realise that he's 'just average', presumably they haven't checked him out or ever seen him play. He's clearly much more than 'average', or much less, depending on what is meant by such a meaningless term !

Would be a a low risk, cheap punt for Gala, akin to Sidwell to Chelsea. Or Doyle to us.

You're correct in terms of he wouldn't break into their starting line up immediately ahead of the likes of Sneijder and Altintop but to say that he's very average is...well the quote of someone with their head in the sand. This is a player who's worked tremendously hard for his whole career since the acdemy and has earned the armband. If for a couple of unfortunate stints on the sidelines I dare say we'd be rebuilding the squad around him and Williams (best player at the club alongside G Mac).

Is your head in the sand?

Jem is very average. He's a grafter, he has loads of energy, he is perfect for the Championship in that sense, but he is very average in terms of everything else. Perhaps it is your head in the sand? Too many of our fans over-rate Jem, just because of a few highlights with us in that promotion season. Some even called him a legend today. Absolute nonsense, and a term very over used today. He's one of ours and I wish him well, but he is most certainly replaceable. The physio room wont be the same without him.

Tbf, if Colin Kazim-Richards was good enough for them, I think Jem will be.

Considering Karacan (family) are mad Besiktas fans, i highly doubt he is going to sign for their main rivals

He's much better than many on here give him credit for. He works very hard but is also decent on the ball and has scored some cracking goals in his time.

He'd relish the chance to play for the team he supports, and it will boost his chances of getting back in the Turkey squad.

Add into that the opportunity to play in the Champions League, and it looks like a good move for him.

TBM Considering Karacan (family) are mad Besiktas fans, i highly doubt he is going to sign for their main rivals

From 2012:

Karacan, who also revealed he rejected an offer to join Gala's rivals Besiktas in the past, insists he is happy at the Royals, but told the Daily Star he would like to play in Turkey 'one day'.

'I’ve been here for nine years and this club is close to my heart. I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else,' said the 23-year-old.

'A few years ago I was close to going to Besiktas and I think my dad would have a go at me if I didn’t play in Turkey one day.

'He wants me to play for Galatasaray. One day in the future, though.'

He started learning Turkish last year too, so this move to Turkey was always in his mind.

I didn't want him to leave but you can't begrudge him that.

Massive move (if it's true and all goes through, of course) and one which I hope works out.

people with extra arms from the neck - scary :o

Jem going to Gala would be amazing for him, bigger club, better weather, local to challenge for national team, no Leeds match, he'd probably be a bench player to help close matches down,

- Team he and his family support
- Chance for the National team
- Champions League Football
- Better Weather
- Better Wages

I love Jem, but if he's handed this opportunity, he has to take it.
